Remington responds to NY SAFE… by investing $20 million more in New York facilities?

Hit me baby, one more timeBob Owens

When someone abuses you, you should leave them. It’s common sense, and something every psychologist and social worker recommends.

Apparently Remington Arms is in need of a shrink:

A group of New York state lawmakers says they’ve been told by Remington Arms that the company plans to spend $20 million upgrading its gun manufacturing plant in the Mohawk Valley. Local media outlets report that three senators and three Assembly members met with Remington officials on Wednesday to discuss what they could do to ensure the company keeps its plant in the Herkimer County village of Ilion, where Remington employs about 1,200 people.

Taxes, laws, and skilled labor prices are better almost anywhere else, so we can only assume this alleged upgrade is political in nature. Maybe New York or national Democrats promised to stop hitting them so hard, or so often.

This time, they mean it.

  1. Remington was just awarded a 80 million dollar contract to produce sniper rifles for the government. Just google it, and you will see the political connection. Those at Remington have made their bed, and chosen to support infringments, and the government is covering any losses that this support will cost them with private sales.

  2. Remington ammo is crap, at least their .22LR and .45 ACP is. Even with today’s ammo shortages, if I saw any Remington ammo on the shelves I would leave it.

    1. You took the words right out of my mouth. Their 22lr will not cycle through my 10/22 or Chiappa M4 22 even when the round in the chamber actually fires. I haven’t purchased any Remington ammo in 10 years or better now. Had enough FTF issues with their centerfire pistol ammo back in the day to teach me a lesson. CCI is the only way to go for rimfire ammo or for primers when reloading centerfire.

  3. boycott remington and tell all you know to do the same. then make sure you send them an e-mail or letter and let them know your no longer going to purchase anything they produce. I would think that the few customers they are catering to will be nothing in comparison of almost 120 million people saying piss off remington.

  4. Copy of Email sent to Remington. We all need to get on board and
    send something similar.

    To whom it may concern,

If you don’t stand with the people you can count on not on having any of my business. The Government of New York State has made a decision to bar its LAW ABIDING CITIZENS from having their choice of firearms and has severely harmed the 2nd amendment not only in NY but across this great REPUBLIC. If your company sticks with its decision to invest 20 million into a plant that cannot provide arms or ammunition of choice into the hands of the workers of said plant you will loose my business on
ammo and any future rifle purchase I might make. I will also ask all of my friends, family and acquaintances to research your companies decision and make appropriate responses as well. I am sure they will be happy to respond via email as well as talk to their friends, family, and acquaintances.

    1. I don’t think Remington cares. It’s all about the money and leverage from the government. The government needs weapons too, you know. All of the companies can’t just leave the government hanging. There’s always that one sellout company in the business.

  5. There are too many other companies out there who sell firearms and ammunition and support the Second Amendment for Remington to disregard our rights and stay in bed with those who would disarm us. Those companies who do not roll over for the restrictive forces of government will see their sales rise as firearm owners boycott Remington’s, and others, products. Gun owners are rabid in their defense of the Second Amendment and they have long memories. Politicians will also be the victims of those long memories in their next election.
