A U.S. Secret Service agent who suggested on Facebook that she would rather go to jail than take a bullet for Donald Trump has reportedly been suspended with pay, reports KCNC.
The Washington Examiner had previously reported about the Facebook message from October where Kerry O’Grady reportedly endorsed Hillary Clinton in the presidential election by writing, “I am with Her.”
However, she also obliquely referenced her dislike for Trump by writing, “I would take jail time over a bullet or an endorsement for what I believe to be disaster to this country and the strong and amazing women and minorities who reside here.”
Though she took the post down a few days later and reaffirmed her commitment to the job, there was backlash including calls for her resignation.
Before the suspension, O’Grady had been overseeing the agency’s Denver office.
It is unknown how long she will be suspended, notes KDVR.
What kind of statist idiot WOULD take a bullet for Trump — or for any politician, for that matter? The only politician I can recall seeing in my lifetime whom I’d be willing to endanger myself to protect is Ron Paul.
Of course there are non-politicians, mostly family and close friends, for whom I’d fight to the death. I’d also die to defend my own honor, and there are certainly principles I’d die to defend if I thought it might make a difference at the time. But…US politicians?!
I can’t begin to imagine the dearth of self-esteem it would require to put one’s own life beneath that of a president, Supreme Court “Justice,” or anyone else who receives Secret Service protection. If those were honorable people who were truly serving the public, they’d scarcely even NEED protection.
