Smedley Butler: Forgotten Hero, Forgotten Warning

Bullion Bulls Canada – by Jeff Nielson

Few areas of knowledge have been more heavily mythologized than “American History”. Much of what Americans (and people outside the U.S.) think they know has been heavily fictionalized such as the Battle of the Alamo. Or, it has even been completely falsified, such as the Japanese “attack” on Pearl Harbor, which allowed the U.S. to enter World War II.

Documenting falsified American “history” (as well as the falsified history of other nations) begs an obvious question. Who has both the means and the motive to transform actual historical events into a mixture of tall tales and propaganda, to the degree that this false “history” is written in our text books, and taught in our classrooms?

Regular readers know the answer to this question: the Old World Order. As with debunking our Revisionist history; we have numerous sources who document the existence of this secret hierarchy which exists above our governments, both historical and contemporary.

One of these earlier sources is Charles Lindbergh Sr. [1859 – 1924], father of the famed U.S. aviator, and the real “hero” in that family tree. Lindbergh was a U.S. Congressman, and career prosecutor, who devoted much of his political career exposing this Old World Order, and then spent his last years writing about it.

Shortly after the [American] Civil War a group of men formed a selfish plan to rule the world by the manipulation of finances.

–     Lindbergh, The Economic Pinch (p. 22)

He referred to these oligarchs as “profiteers”, and described them as individuals who “may be said to ape the old European nobility…[and] also refuse to pay their share of taxes and bear their share of burdens.” Sound familiar?

He pointed out how, more than 100 years ago, while he was a part of the government himself, the supposed “democracy” of the United States had already been turned into a two-party dictatorship. This Old World Order controlled both of the two parties, transforming U.S. democracy and U.S. politics into nothing more than a “farce.”

Remedy has been attempted by alternately shifting one to the other of the old political parties. It has been done so many times without substantial benefit that it has become a farce. Voters must realize that the old party leaders shout the ideals the people had in the original formation of the parties. Party leaders do this for propaganda purposes only. They proclaim good, and do evil[emphasis mine]

–     The Economic Pinch (p.61)

He explained why these oligarch bankers found it necessary (and profitable) to control the U.S. government. It was because it allowed them to create bubble-and-crash cycles, completely under their own control, thus allowing these profiteers to make enormous (and illegal) “profits”, both as the markets rose, and also when the markets collapsed, after they triggered the crashes.

The frequent panics forced upon the people are created for the benefit of profiteers. Between panics we have what are in comparison are called “good times.” But times are never as good as they would be if business were done in the easiest way and most proper ways.

–     (p.61)

Sound familiar?

However, we also have contemporary sources who trace back the power and control of this Old World Order, as going back well over a century. In a superb, well-referenced, 3 ½ hour documentary; Bill Still presented the crimes and conspiracies of these oligarch bankers, whom he dubbed The Money Masters.

Another contemporary source who also provides us with well-researched analysis of this Old World Order, and their manipulation of global events is Michael Rivero. His unequivocal conclusions are summarized in the title of his own narrative of these events, All Wars Are Banker Wars.

One of the episodes of real history covered by Rivero in his video presentation (and transcript) is yet another example of “history” which has simply been erased from public knowledge, and replaced with nothing more than a propaganda footnote. It concerns a real “American hero”, arguably one of the greatest: Marine General Smedley Butler.

Who was Smedley Butler? The auto-biographical summary provided by Rivero tells us almost as much about the Old World Order as Butler’s heroic deed.

I spent 33 years and four months in active military service as a member of our country’s most agile military force – the Marine Corps. I served in all commissioned ranks from second lieutenant to Major General. And during that period I spent more of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism.

I suspected I was a part of the racket at the time. Now I am sure of it. Like all members of the military profession I never had an original thought until I left the service. My mental faculties remained in suspended animation while I obeyed the orders of the higher-ups.

This is typical with everyone in the military service. Thus I helped to make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street.

The record of racketeering is long. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-12. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went its way unmolested.

During those years, I had, as the boys in the back room would say, a swell racket. I was rewarded with honors, medals and promotion. Looking back on it, I feel I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three city districts. I operated on three continents.”  [emphasis mine]

–     General Smedley Butler, former US Marine Corps Commandant, 1935

Obviously when Butler writes about himself (and the entire, U.S. military) being “a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and for the bankers”, he is writing about the same Old World Order described by Charles Lindbergh Sr. If Butler’s general narrative about “raping half a dozen Central American Republics for the benefit of Wall Street” sounds hauntingly familiar, it should. It’s precisely the same “racket” about which John Perkins wrote, two generations later, in Confessions of an Economic Hit Man.

However, the most remarkable episode in Butler’s career is not alluded to in his blunt assessment of his own military career. For this, we must return to the research and narrative by Michael Rivero, where he describes events, when the Old World Order decided that it wanted even more control for itself than it had with the U.S.’s sham-democracy.

recall Marine Major General Smedley Butler. In 1933, Wall Street bankers and financiers had bankrolled the successful coups by both Hitler and Mussolini. Brown Brothers Harriman in New York was financing Hitler right up to the day was declared on Germany. And they decided that a fascist dictatorship in the United States based on the one on Italy would be far better for their business interests than Roosevelt’s “New Deal” which threatened massive wealth re-distribution to recapitalize the working and middle class of America.

So the Wall Street tycoons recruited General Butler to lead the overthrow of the U.S. government and install a “Secretary of General Affairs” who would be answerable to Wall Street and not the people, would crush social unrest and shut down all labor unions. General Butler pretended to go along with the scheme but then exposed the plot to Congress. Congress, then as now in the pocket of the Wall Street bankers, refused to act.

One of the most shocking/shameful events in the history of this supposed democracy has been replaced in so-called history books by nothing more than a Revisionist footnote, labeled “The Business Plot.”

The Business Plot was an alleged political conspiracy in the United States. Retired Marine Corps General Smedley Butler claimed that wealthy businessmen were plotting to create a fascist veterans’ organization and use it in a coup d’etat to overthrow the President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt…No one was prosecuted[emphasis mine]

At the time of the incidents, news media dismissed the plot, with a New York Times editorial characterizing it as a “gigantic hoax”.

About the only substantial points where this propaganda agrees with the research of Rivero, and the words of Butler himself is that Butler had been recruited to lead the coup, and no one was prosecuted. So why should we trust Rivero’s narrative, or even the words of a “decorated war hero” like Butler? Rivero goes on to provide further narrative, pointing out that there were eventual prosecutions.

When Roosevelt learned of the planned coup he demanded the arrest of the plotters, but the plotters simply reminded Roosevelt that if any one of them were sent to prison, their friends on Wall Street would deliberately collapse the still-fragile economy and blame Roosevelt for it.

Roosevelt was thus unable to act until the start of WW2, at which time he prosecuted many of the plotters under the Trading With The Enemy act. The Congressional minutes into the coup were finally declassified in 1967, but rumors of the attempted coup became the inspiration for the movie, “Seven Days in May” but with the true financial villains erased from the script.

Readers will, perhaps, recognize the name of one of the “villains” who was eventually prosecuted by Roosevelt: Prescott Bush. For those readers to whom this name is not familiar, he was the father of (former) U.S. president George Bush, and grandfather of (former) U.S. president George Bush Jr.

This leaves readers with a very clear choice as to which of these two “histories” they find most credible. In our official history, convicted traitor Prescott Bush, father of one president and grandfather of another, was merely a “businessman” who tried to make a lot of money by helping Adolph Hitler build his war machine, before and during World War II.

In our unofficial history; convicted traitor Prescott Bush was part of an Old World Order cabal who tried to literally overthrow the U.S. government. And when this Old World Order failed, they did the next best thing: they had the son and grandson of one of the conspirators elected as presidents, where they could serve the Old World Order directly.

For readers who are skeptical of this unofficial history, where a secret cabal controls the U.S. government, both of its political parties, the Corporate media, and the entire financial system, please ask yourself this question. How did the son and grandson of a convicted U.S. traitor both get elected as president, with practically no one in that entire, 300+ million population even being aware they were electing the direct descendants of a Traitor?

How could this not have been mentioned by the Corporate media? How could it not have been mentioned by any Democrat, unless the two parties were teammates? For readers who continue to bury their heads in the sand regarding the Old World Order which rules the world, and uses the U.S. military as its attack dog, perhaps they will heed history’s most-famous (and most-veiled) warning – now also “forgotten” by the Corporate media, and our “history books”.

Former president, Dwight D. Eisenhower, shortly before he left office in 1961:

In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic process. We should take nothing for granted.  [emphasis mine]

The Old World Order. A century ago; Charles Lindberg Sr. labeled these financial psychopaths “profiteers”. Today, Bill Still calls them “the Money Masters.” They were/are talking about the same people. The crime syndicate which they operate (the One Bank) was described by one decorated, U.S. general as “a racket.” A generation later, another decorated U.S. general (and president) called it “the military industrial complex.”

Major General Smedley Butler prevented the Old World Order from seizing direct control of the U.S. government. However, what he could not prevent was having his patriotism and their dirty deed erased from the history books by those same oligarchs.

  1. Check out the YouTube interview with Norman Dodd.

    http://youtu.be/YUYCBfmIcHM

It’s about 53 minutes but well worth your time. I promise.
It covers, among other things, the collusion by the major foundations (Rockefeller, Carnegie, Ford, etc.) to control the American educational system.
Most importantly and specifically, American History.

  2. Rockefeller–Regionalism: The shadow behind Oregon’s LCDC: an encyclopedia about political intrigue Paperback – 1992 by Joe Spenner Documents how Oregon’s land use planning law is part of the New World Order, how sly, wily behavior modification tactics are used to overthrow the Bill of Rights by undermining the US Constitution with its own freedoms, and using taxes to finance private non-profit front corporations for a quiet revolution of change through education by way of the United Nations. Illustrated with photos and documents. I just ordered the book from Amazon

  3. “The truth is out there.” Now if we could only find a way to put it “in there” for all to see, but, what worries me, is that if the truth was revealed, would people even give a shit? We’ve been so “dumb-downed” and drug addled, would we be able to climb out at this point?

    1. I’m sorry to say that, based upon my experience, nobody would “give a shit”. Parents. Wife. Kids. Neighbors. Friends.
They know I’m right, but don’t want to go there.
Check out this interview of Yuri Bezmenov. A Soviet defector from the 1970s.
Notice how he talks about the process of demoralization.
      I fight that very often.
      http://youtu.be/jFfrWKHB1Gc

It reveals how the long term “dumbing down” of Americans has been accomplished.
It’s not been an accident. And most of us know who the Bolsheviks were and the genocide they enabled.
They’re trying to do it here.

    2. I know what you mean Millard. When I watch videos of Mark Dice getting people to sign all kinds of stupid petitions it makes me feel SO TIRED. The sad part is that most of the people I know are just like that. What can you do with people that actually think reality shows are reality?

  4. By the way, I believe that Smedley Butler’s short “War is a Racket” book should be required reading in High School and before anyone signs the bottom line to join or be drafted into the military.
My wife and I are 2nd generation AF veterans.
