This clip from the 2009 South Park episode ‘Margaritaville’ lampoons just how illogical and ridiculous economic mismanagement has become in the United States in the years leading up to and following the late 2000s financial crisis.
Here, economic policy is determined by having a beheaded chicken flop around a platform until it completely dies on a certain location, which may have things as diverse as “nationalize”, “print money”, “go to war”, or “bailout” written there. That is what course of action will be taken in lieu of sound decision making.
