It’s a scene playing out across southern Bulgaria, where heavy rains have brought severe flooding.
Two deaths have been reported, and hundreds of residents have been evacuated from riverside communities where water now fills the streets…
In neighbouring Albania, it’s a similar story.
Some homeowners were left stranded by the rapidly rising waters of the Vjosa River…rescue helicopters the only means of escape
Further downstream, dozens of families have been evacuated, and emergency workers are expected to remain on alert with more rain predicted throughout the week.
