The Fruits of Socialism – Venezuelan Food Lines

The Libertarian Republic – by Austin Peterson

A user from the popular image sharing site imgur has uploaded a series of photos showing food lines in Venezuela. The lines are undoubtedly the result of new price controls that President Nicolas Maduro has instituted as an effort to tame inflation.

The “Fair Price Law” is causing devastating shortages due to the fact that by putting caps on prices eliminates the the first law of economics, supply and demand. The law sets a maximum profit margin of 30% and requires firms to obtain “fair price” certificates to access dollars through the government’s currency system.

People reportedly wait in line up to four hours to get food at the grocery store.

  1. Because I do my grocery runs once every two to three weeks I notice thing more than a lot of people that are going every few days or so but I have noticed that the quality of the beefhas realy went down a lot while theprices went way up. The veggy selection has went down and the quality has also went down like with the meat.
Yea, It is comeing and comeing fast here in america and if you do not have deep pockets it will be much like in the venzuelia market place.
when I can make I go to Aldi`s and stock up real good all things considered as their prices are usually at least half of anywhere else.
It easily pays for the gas going out of the way to go their. Last week end we bought 4 bags of groceries for $55.00 and it was a little of everything from meats to fresh veggies to canned goods.
Yes, the shelves will be going bare for a lot of people and stores and it is going to catch a lot of people off guard I am afraid to say.

    1. The CEO of White Castle was speaking the other day about beef prices. He said that the price that they pay has went up 16% already and is expected to be up 26% by August. looks like beef wont be what’s for dinner very much after that.

      1. WOW, I didn`t think it went up that much but it has really went up around here and the quality has realy went down to be sure.

          1. As reported on the Jeff Rense show, twice this month already, dead, diseased cows with prions are being allowed into the meat market. So be really careful where you buy your beef … if you buy beef. The deadly prion wasting disease is spreading into the deer herds as well.

  2. I have a good 6-8 month supply without cutting calories, could almost double it’s use if needed and every time I hit a market for say a perishable good add a bag of rice/few canned goods if on sale/something more for the rainy day fund.I also at least at moment live in a area with a lot of natural edible vegetation and fish/deer ect.,will not count on that though as times get more challenging and keep cycling thru my oldest goods will supplies build.I started this on more of a lark but was taking more seriously and is amazing how quickly the smalls add up in food and other necessities.

    1. James I have been doing the same thing. Also when mi milk jug is emptied, i fill it with tap water which can be filtered later if need be, or used to flush a toilet if i still have access to one.

      1. Paul,as still laid up with broken thumb(no hammer comments thank you!)went out shopping and another 20 pounds of rice and 10 pounds macaroni. With milk cartons, clean beyond compulsive if for drinkable water as even a tiny bit of contaminated water can screw it up.Pool shock can make up to date bleach to also add a few drops to kill bacteria ect.,would suck to start the tough times off with the shits.I have also built up a nice med supply mostly from dollar store,am practicing sewing on chicken breast and then removing and cooking well, great video on boob tube about sewing practice this way and guy ends by having a barbecue!.

        1. good job James……..what hammer? 🙂 yes i also buy rverse osmosis drink water in 2.5 gal containers when im at the store. Have a good supply of that in storage now. also have a 2 stage berkey filter system for filtering.
