SAN ANTONIO — A tip from the New York Police Department led San Antonio police to find a dead woman early Sunday in a Northwest Side apartment complex.

NYPD asked SAPD to check an apartment in the 8900 block of Datapoint Drive, after allegations of family violence between Nicole Zito and Shanell Williams, according to preliminary information released Monday.

No one was answering the front door of the apartment, but officers found the rear patio door open. An officer climbed up to the second-floor balcony and saw Zito’s body on the living room floor. No one else was in the apartment, according to police.

Zito was pronounced dead at the scene.

Williams, 33, later called police from the 8700 block of Interstate 10 on the East Side to say he felt suicidal. He cut his wrists superficially, claiming he was trying to kill himself, according to police.

Williams was arrested and charged with murder. He was being held Monday in the Bexar County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Police continue to investigate Zito’s death.

  1. I suspect that Zito phoned a family member in NY saying she was in trouble, and that that person called a 911 number.
NYPD would/could then forward to San Antonio.
Of course, if she had still been moving when SAPD arrived, she would probably been tased or shot, for “failing to comply”
