BURLINGTON, Colo. — Two men are in custody after the death of a woman on Friday, the Burlington Police Department said.
Police arrested Dylan Eason, 19, and Isaiah Churchwell, 24, in connection with the death of Cynthia Campbell Eason that occurred in Eason’s home in the 1300 block of Jasmine Street.
Police said they believe the suspects entered Eason’s home and killed her, then left with items stolen from the residence. A tip led to the search and capture of the men a few hours after the investigation began about 1:10 p.m. Friday.
Investigators do not believe it was a random incident as Dylan Eason was Cynthia Campbell Eason’s stepson.
Viewers said Eason was a well-loved veterinarian in Burlington and Kansas City, Mo., described on social media by those who knew her as a valuable asset to the community.
Police have not released any information about a possible motive for the death. Jon Eason, Cynthia Eason’s husband and Dylan Eason’s father, wrote on Facebook about the loss of his wife and his frustration with the judicial system.
We are so grateful for all the kind words about my wife’s passing. This is my most difficult time ever. I cry, I scream but mostly I sit so confused.
I used feel so lucky, the Cindy Campbell chose me to spend her life with, very humbled by her choice to be my wife.
I am not happy with who I have become the last 72 hours, since I learned of my wife’s tragic death. I have been intolerant of the justice system and very angry with our police dept. I have exploded more then once with anger, that I have been ashamed of.
I am wondering as a parent, why I’m so insistent on my son and his friend receive the death penalty for killing my wife over simple greed. I have never felt hate before, but I’m so engulfed in hate, that I I want my kid and his friend to pay with their lives. I’m ashamed of feeling this way, I know Cindy would not like my anger and madness that I’m living with.
I ask you keep the Campbell family, Beggs Family in your thoughts. I feel that I do not deserve any prayers and I am to live in this private hell, because I could not protect my wife when she needed me the most. I should have insisted she come to Texas with me, she would have been pissed, but she would have been alive.
I love you Cindy Campbell-Eason, I will never forget and always honor your memory, so help me god!!!!!!
The suspects are being held without bond at the Kit Carson County Jail and according to court records, they will be advised of charges on Monday.
The suspects are each charged with first-degree murder, first-degree burglary, aggravated robbery and theft.
