The United Nations awarded the song “Climate Astronauts” the prize for best children’s global climate change song. Performed by students from Bonn, Germany and “Climate Fairy” Bernadette La Hengst, the lyrics include, ‘don’t need no cars’, ‘we go by feet’, and ‘don’t need no bath’.

Selected lyrics:
We are astronauts, and we can see
We are astronauts, what’s good for you
We are astronauts, no plastic bags
We are astronauts, don’t waste the food
We are astronauts, turn out the lights
We are astronauts, in the night
We are astronauts, don’t need no cars
We are astronauts, we go by bike

We are climate, climate astronauts
We are climate, climate astronauts

[…]

Boys and girls around the world
Can you hear us
We are loud
We don’t need no CO2
What we need is me and you
And, our solar rockets
We rocket, rocket

We are astronauts, we plant the trees
We are astronauts, we go by feet
We are astronauts, we save the world
We are astronauts, when we brush our teeth
We are astronauts, don’t need no bath
We are astronauts, at every day
We are astronauts, we love you earth
We are astronauts, and we will say

We are climate, climate astronauts

  1. Where’s the “bile” bucket? OMG! Shall I puke now or later? Just when you think they can’t dive any lower, they reach new heights!

Tell me this wasn’t an actual, serious production.

  2. Why don’t they just hold hands and sing “We are the Third World?” Just more of the agenda to push the First World down to Third World standards. I’ll have my bath, thank you. And I’ll also drive the car I paid for.

The last time I checked, “astronauts” weren’t invented by bike-riding, smelly hippies. Real astronauts are a product of the First World and of technology.

  3. Keep believin’ in the U.N. and you won’t have the opportunity for either cars or showers.. The world needs children and not the U.N. A world court is useless if its enforcement arm is NATO. Definite conflict of interest that gives distorted vision to poor blind lady justice. I’d like to teach the world to sing… all about Coca Cola.

  4. Sounds like Common Core grammar…”don’t need no bath” has a double negative, which means the words say “do need bath”… Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” has the similar “We don’t need no education” line which actually says “We do need education” (now the next line about “thought control” is the exception that proves the rule…)

  5. And about that CO2…since plants use CO2 to give off oxygen, what they are singing is “we don’t need plants”… tell you what…feed plants Brawndo and you won’t have plants to worry about…you know, electrolytes, what “plants crave”

  6. Nice beat ,great lyrics, with my lifestyle, one or more of those chillen are mine.I said, mine all mine, now you’rs all your’s. Stand in line pay yer tax, wait for refund and dream on.I can’t believe none, Maybe I’ll buy anything now.
