Your neighbor is not your friend in America. In a society as hyper-regulated as the American state, the chances your co-workers and neighbors has been suborned as an informant who either is paid or finds it their twisted duty to fellate the police state and snitch. Historically, fabricated crimes that have no victim except the state demand a very large and sophisticated informant network to keep the system afloat and erecting the feeder mechanism for getting hapless Helots into the gulag system that has destroyed tens of millions of lives.
This the same neighbor that openly robs you and threatens you by pulling the lever in the slave booth every year for a new master. In an odd way, voting has much in common with being a snitch for the state.
The national security state can get so confused they end up having their myriad of informants and agents torture and kill each other. More please.
If you review the history of the state and especially the twentieth century mutations that leveraged the happy bow wave of mass bureaucracy, accountancy technology and a sublime willingness for masses of humanity to submit and obey produced the signature collectivist hell-holes like China and the USSR. These in turn spawned many smaller and no less vicious Kafka enclaves that toyed with new ideas that would surprise even George Orwell, the savviest observer of the maximum state in the first fifty years of the twentieth century.
Self deception, blindered observation, confirmation bias and historical amnesia tend to drive the enstupidation in the West that assumes none of this has happened in the US or the West but a careful combing of history proves that the self-delusion is silly in the extreme. The US is no freer in plenty of respects than Stalin’s Russia. His gulag population paled in comparison to the present raw numbers and percentages of caged humans in America in addition to the legions of paroled and probationed victims of the state.
I rarely comment on the electoral races that I do not participate in but the intellectual dimness and psychopathy in all the candidates this year no matter the party proves the wisdom of my decision to abstain. That even the perennially silly Libertarian Party would field two stout statists is telling of the government supremacist temper of the US if not the world.
What’s the difference between the totalitarian Bernie Sander and his co-conspirators in the major parties? Honesty. Every one of them is just as eager to expand the state and wallow in the cynical economic illiteracy that is the accepted contemporary milieu of American rule out of Mordor on the Potomac (if we just get the right person to wear the ring).
Venezuelan Bernie is the perfect flag-bearer for the contemporary Uruk Hai that champion the maximum state.
Lysander Spooner described the politician in the most delicious fashion with his characteristic aplomb and élan:
A traitor is a betrayer – one who practices injury, while professing friendship. Benedict Arnold was a traitor, solely because, while professing friendship for the American cause, he attempted to injure it. An open enemy, however criminal in other respects, is no traitor.
I know I am alone as an abolitionist. Hell, the anarcho-capitalists who are close philosophical cousins of mine are a single digit subset of the libertarian subset in the political spectrum which in and of itself is a small percentage of the American spectrum. Most libertarians are minarchists which is like being an advocate to trim the kudzu but not work to get rid of it.
Advocacy of limited government is much like the fabled social contract carried by sasquatch riding on the back of the Loch Ness monster in search of the unicorn that will blow the rainbows out of its ass that will make all government just perfect.
Mythological creatures indeed who have the same reality quotient as the earnest limited government stalwarts.
I didn’t sign shit.
A man’s natural rights are his own, against the whole world; and any infringement of them is equally a crime, whether committed by one man, or by millions; whether committed by one man, calling himself a robber, (or by any other name indicating his true character,) or by millions, calling themselves a government. – Lysander Spooner

You just have to LOVE Lysander Katie! He is one of my favorites.
Unfortuity defending your natural rights is against the laws the Elitists have made.
Yes, but not against God from where our natural rights originate.
They can’t stand against the power of God!
MR SPOONER WAS A GENIUS…….MOST OF US BELIEVE AS HE DID……. WE JUST RAISE MORE HELL ABOUT IT……. OF COURSE, ITS FAR PAST TIME TO RAISE HELL….
Dealing with the “snitch” issue is easy–if you don’t both know AND trust someone, don’t tell them anything! The main problem is too damned many people do social networking like Facebook and then spill all their beans… The Bible is clear on this one: Psalm 118:8- “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man” (KJV…other versions say essentially “trust God, not man”). Just another reason why I like having our nearest neighbors half-a-mile away!
As for voting–the problem is, and likely always will be, too damned many people buy into the nonsense “if you don’t vote you can’t complain” crap! Here is what I tell these folks: The time for complaining is over.
“Psalm 118:8- “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man” (KJV”
Did you know that that is the exact center of the Bible, DL.?
No coincidence.
“… George Orwell, the savviest observer of the maximum state in the first fifty years of the twentieth century.”
George was in The Club. That’s how he knew so much.
“I didn’t sign shit.”
Likewise.
Snitches are b#tches that get dumped in ditches.
