TRENTON — The mayor of West New York, Felix Roque, was indicted Tuesday for accepting approximately $250,000 in bribes in return for referring patients to a medical imaging company whose owner has admitted running a massive kickback scheme, state authorities said.
From 2007 to 2012, Roque, 59, a Democrat who runs the Pain Relief Center in the town, agreed to refer patients needing MRI and CT scans to the centers in exchange for cash and campaign contributions, the state Attorney General’s Office said.
He was charged with healthcare claims fraud, commercial bribery and running. If convicted, he faces five to 10 years in prison.
The owner of Diagnostic Imaging Affiliates, Rehan Zuberi, 46, of Boonton, allegedly delivered the cash to Roque on a monthly basis and made several payments to him at the mayor’s office in the town hall. Roque was just re-elected as mayor in May.
Authorities declined to provide more details about the alleged campaign contributions.
“By allegedly taking approximately a quarter-million dollars in bribes, Mayor Roque put his personal wealth and political career ahead of his patients’ needs,” acting state Attorney General John Hoffman said.
A spokesman for Roque did not immediately return a request for comment.
Zuberi pleaded guilty last month to leading a criminal enterprise that paid millions of dollars in bribes and kickbacks to dozens of doctors from 2008 to 2014. Earlier this month, four doctors and a chiropractor were indicted for alleged roles in the scheme.
Under the plea deal, Zuberi agreed to cooperate with authorities in the investigation, and in return, prosecutors will recommend he serve 10 years in prison. Zuberi’s wife, Humara Paracha, 39, also pleaded guilty in the scheme.
Roque was acquitted in 2013 of federal charges accusing him of conspiring with his son to hack into a website called “Recall Roque” and threatening a political opponent who put the site online.

A good bet it’s the least of his treason.

these are only three of MY EXAMPLES and I am not alone. How about that FOOD PYRAMID cruft? Ya know, there’s some cleaning up to be done. Where cleanup == delete forever. I don’t use the word DIET, I use the word NUTRITION, when I look at OBAMACARE DSM CODES I see that DIETITIANS are available but there are NO NUTRITIONISTS!!!
Main part is to get hospital COSTS under control, but also this database thing has to go, you can’t have 36 agencies being alerted when you spring your wrist!
It’s BS. it’s SPYING without a warrant, and it’s OATH BREAKING (or do I mean just hatred of the Rule of Law?) FROM THE TOP DOWN. not to mention at every node, and every point, every vault, line, router, firewall, database. (While thos were wired, and even at your hospital bed there are now unsecured WIRELESS Devices!!! heart monitor is a radio basically.) it makes us ALL LESS SECURE and MORE IN DANGER OF HAVING YOUR DATA EXPLOITED by some unknown blackhat representing some corporation or country. There are plenty of motivations for manipulating the stack of data of humans on earth, one being that of PROFIT. But also some people are just psychopaths and want to hurt you.
I could happily see that Sibelious OBAMACARE lady doing 10 years. IN fact I want to see all these liars doin it, for the HOSPITAL it ought to be 100 MILLION DOLLAR, TEN YEARS FOR THE CEO’s
I am seeing four parts to fix OBAMACARE
1. Overturn Supreme Court – Gotta Buy It.
2. Remove Psychiatry “the quack false science” from OBAMACARE – no more DSM Codes, no more PSYCHIATRISTS being called a “doctor”
3. COSTS – You should be able to get cheap meds where ever you want, if that’s mexico, canada that’s great!
4. Bad science behind procedures, decisions
5. the data collection (or lack thereof)
6. the data sharing (who controls it . hint: you should)
7. TOSS OUT FOOD PYRAMID AND ALL DIETICIANS AND REPLACE WITH NUTRITIONISTS AND CLEAN THE FOOD SUPPLY/ WATER. FUKUSHIMA/MONSANTO/NESTLE need not APPLY!
(so much for four, I can probably keep going here)
This is just to fix health care, and in turn our health, but in turn MIGHT SAVE this country if those medicare/medical costs come down in conjunction with cleaning up the banksters. OR maybe not. Maybe I am delusional again. One thing off the list is the LIES have to stop. TRUST can only be restored after the Actions that got us here halt permanently going forward and protection put in place to not allow this again.
