The oldest living person on Earth just celebrated her 116th birthday.
Friends, family and even a few lawmakers joined Jeralean Talley at an Inkster, Michigan steakhouse to commemorate another year. She also got a special congratulatory message from President Barack Obama.
Talley says she credits God for being able to live so long — and unlike other supercentenarians, she doesn’t have a secret to a long and healthy life.
She told the Associated Press about reaching the milestone, “There’s nothing I can do about it.”
But she does have a few rules to live by to make all those years count.
She told WJBK, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you that’s my way of living. I want to treat everybody the way I want to be treated. If I give you any advice that same advice comes back to me. I don’t have much education but what little sense I got, I try to use it.”
That and plenty of coffee.
Bet she’s good with a gun. 🙂
Obama’s message to her? “Hurry up and die, bitch”.
yeah no doubt.
Hey Paul, Taj Mahal (can’t remember how to spell it) stole the show at the Rock and Roll Circus. Damn, if it wasn’t “Mean Mistreater” by Grand Funk Railroad, it would have been Taj Mahal playing on an old cabinet style turntable when I’d stop over for a visit. He’d be sittin’ there contemplating the day’s chores with a pipe in one hand and a breakfast beer in the other.
🙂 You’ve got a lot of good memories Millard. Glad you shared that. 🙂
