A Colorado man who fired nearly 70 bullets from an AK-47 at police officers and sheriff’s deputies on Independence Day in 2012 was sentenced to 736 years in prison by a judge on Friday.

Lonnie James Pebley, 43, opened fire on 27 Castle Rock police officers and Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies from his home in Castle Rock during one of biggest shootouts in county history.

He fired more than 70 times but did not hit any of the officers.

Officers fired only two shots in response because they feared children were in the house.

A SWAT team was eventually called in and Pebley was arrested at another location after a seven-hour search, the Denver Channel reported.

Neighbor Marvin Shipley saw the shootout.

He said: ‘My wife heard someone say, “Don’t shoot the dogs.”

‘I think they shot the dogs and it really picked up at that point.

‘Pretty soon we had bullets whizzing over the roof of the house and it went on for quite a while.

‘There must have been 50 to 60 gunshots.’

Pebley’s case went to trial earlier this year and he was found guilty of 46 criminal charges in February.

The charges Pebley was convicted of include 15 counts of attempted first-degree murder, 12 counts of first-degree assault, 17 counts of reckless endangerment, one count of criminal mischief and one count of being reckless with a gun.

Sheriff Tony Spurlock said: ‘Lonnie Pebley is a calculating, dangerous criminal who terrorized his neighborhood, shot at police officers and deputies who are sworn to protect him and showed no remorse or value for human life.

‘Pebley is a callous human being, responsible for his actions and with today’s sentence handed down by the court, will no longer walk among law-abiding citizens.’

Judge Paul King said the sentences for each count should be served consecutively and not concurrently during sentencing.

Castle Rock Police Department Chief Jack Cauley said: ‘In the summer of 2012 Lonnie Pebley attempted to murder our police officers.

‘Today, we witnessed justice served.

‘This convicted felon will now be held accountable for his actions and will no longer pose a threat to our community, neighbors, families and friends.’

  1. what he should have done was obtain the thugs (police) identities and planned out his stealth revenge on them one by one

  2. its Colorado what do you expect. plus, there’s just not enough information in this story. like did he have past run ins with LE, was he one of their lackeys at one time and later said screw you, was he a threat to them somehow or was he a threat to others like they say he was?
all LE are gang affiliated so lets not pretend otherwise.

  3. “He fired more than 70 times but did not hit any of the officers.”

    Useless.

‘This convicted felon will now be held accountable for his actions and will no longer pose a threat to our community, neighbors, families and friends.’

He never DID pose a threat to those listed here. He wasn’t shooting at THEM. The only ones he posed a threat to were the scumbag pigs.

Had his chance, and BLEW IT!!!

    idiot

  4. You see he’s got a nice house he’s working on and a big playset for the kids. He aint pretty but I bet he’s far more decent that the welfare collecting English bar protectors trying to obtain his property.

  5. His marksmanship was disappointing and there’s not enough info on what was going on before they shot his dogs. But I think his response after they shot his dogs was or could be seen as justified, particularly in the anger of the moment.
However, there is a blatant lie by Sheriff Tony Spurlock in the article when he says, “…shot at police officers and deputies who are sworn to protect him…”

  6. Sheriff Tony Spurlock said: “Lonnie Pebley is a calculating, dangerous criminal who terrorized his neighborhood, shot at police officers and deputies who are sworn to protect him and showed no remorse or value for human life.”

Why were they shooting his dogs again?

Officers and Deputies are sworn to protect the bar and the corrupt judicial system, that’s why they wear the bar over the shield. They are no better than agents of a foreign government. There have been several laws proposed to keep bar lawyers from holding public office as they are and have been considered agents of a foreign government. Fact. This man is a liar and is perpetuating the myth that welfare collecting policy enforcers are here to protect and serve us. If every lawyer were to die today our taxes would be halved immediately. Half of all taxes paid go to these lawyers and bar parasites. The coming revolution should really focus on them.

  7. Again, why is it necessary to send in a SWAT team for ONE man? What good are the police if they can’t handle ONE man with a gun?

Again, the police are there only to beat, shoot and kill UNARMED people. If the person is armed, they chicken out and call SWAT. It’s pathetic.

  8. Largest street gang in ameriKa ,ans as you can see the kangaroo courts once again protected the real thugs! If they shot his dog then its game on and what they did to him was not justice. They are killing everything and getting away with it for the most part. This will never end with a peaceful resolution.

  9. Why were the cops at his house in the first place,
and why did they kill his dogs?

    This story is fishy….

  10. How long did the cops get for shooting his dogs? That is a crime! And well illegal discharge of a weapon, invoking a shoot out, I am sure all sides should ay here. Not just one side.
