ACLU suing Indiana town over Christmas decorations

KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind. — An Indiana town is being sued by the American Civil Liberties Union over part of its Christmas decorations.

Residents of the town of 2,000 people can’t remember a time when an illuminated cross didn’t sit atop a Christmas tree in the town square.

tree cross fightNow however, the ACLU and resident Joseph Tompkins want the cross removed according to WTTV-TV.

The suit alleges that the Latin cross “is the preeminent symbol of Christianity, representing the instrument of the crucifixion of Jesus.” So if the display is religious, the suit argues, it has no business on town property.

The documents go on to say that every day, Tompkins “is forced to come into direct and unwelcome contact” with the cross on top of the tree as he drives through town. This, it says, has caused him “irreparable harm,” which can only be remedied by taking the cross down and paying Tompkins monetary damages.

Mark Tompkins, who is related to Joe, disagrees with the lawsuit 100 percent.

“There’s a church on every corner here,” said Mark. “There’s a church on every corner. Is he offended by all the crosses?”

Residents vow they will fight to keep the cross.

  1. “There’s a church on every corner. Is he offended by all the crosses?”

The plaintiff’s brother provided proof that this is a frivolous lawsuit. Now beat the plaintiff to death with baseball bats for making a pain in the ass out of himself.

  2. I suggest this douche bag drive outside of town if it is so traumatic for him. In fact he can keep driving until he is outside the Indiana border. Seriously, I hated all the Bible thumpers too, but it is Indiana. If you can’t deal with it, get out.

  3. “This, it says, has caused him “irreparable harm,” which can only be remedied by taking the cross down and paying Tompkins monetary damages.”

    WRONG!!!

It could also be remedied by a bullet to his brain.
