In 1996 Australia unloaded some of the most severe gun bans and gun confiscation programs on record.  And for the guns that were not confiscated gun owners were forced to enter into license agreements and have their guns registered so the government knew what guns everyone had.

A federal judge in Nevada has ordered a competency evaluation for a woman charged with throwing a shoe at former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during an April speaking appearance in Las Vegas, according to court papers released on Thursday.

Alison Michelle Ernst is accused of getting past security at an event at Las Vegas’ Mandalay Bay Hotel where Clinton was speaking and hurling a soccer shoe and several papers at Clinton from the audience.

FORT DRUM, N.Y. (AP) — Military officials say a soldier with the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division based in northern New York has died while serving in Afghanistan.

In a stunning upset, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor lost the GOP Virginia primary Tuesday night to Dave Brat, an economics professor and political novice.

The Associated Press called the race for Cantor about an hour after polls closed at 7 p.m. ET.

To the people of this great nation, and to the families of those who are in sorrow at this time,

In a time such as this, how can one ever express correctly the feelings within.
Our family morns for the lives that were taken. We are deeply saddened by these events.

Our thoughts of concern are for those who were so hastily left behind. Wives left without husbands and children without fathers, to love, raise and protect. Memories may be all they have to sustain them through the lonely nights ahead. What is a mother to say when a child asks; “where is daddy?”.  We pray that the aching hearts of the families will be filled with the knowledge that God knows your pains. His love for you is real and tangible.  He will morn and sorrow with you while sustaining you through these times. In the end, our Eternal Heavenly Father will make right all wrongs.  As tens of thousands of unaccompanied minors cross into the United States illegally from Mexico, the Obama administration admits it didn’t anticipate how many would come —  and it is asking Congress “for additional (taxpayer) resources to meet this challenge.”

“So there is a request to the appropriators for just over $2 billion to support HHS (Health and Human Services) facilities in particular,” a senior administration official told reporters on a White House conference call Monday.

The good news is, two cops are dead. The bad news is, the two shooters, and what appears to be an innocent bystander are dead too. Officer Alyn Beck, 42, and Officer Igor Soldo, 32, of the Las Vegas Metro Police were gunned down inside Cici’s Pizza while eating lunch. The shooters, one male, one female, whose names have not to my knowledge been released – reportedly shouted “This is the start of a revolution” before opening fire.

My sympathies go out to the owners, employees, and innocent patrons of the Cici’s Pizza, and the innocent bystander who was shot. That’s about where my sympathies for this particular incident end.   Continue reading “Dead Men Don’t Start Revolutions”
