(Times of Israel) – A Syrian air defense base near the coastal city of Latakia was reportedly destroyed Wednesday night, with multiple Syrian and Lebanese sources speculating that an Israeli strike from the Mediterranean was to blame.

(Asia Morning Post) – The operator of the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant is making final preparations before starting the most delicate and dangerous procedure attempted at the plant since three reactors were wrecked in the March 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

Engineers from Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco) need to remove 1,533 rods of highly irradiated spent fuel from the damaged storage pool alongside the Number 4 reactor without exposing them to the air. (Life News) – A new Fox News report issued today says soldiers attending a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood were told that Christians and conservative political advocates are a threat to the nation. They were also informed that pro-life advocates are “radical.”

(Activist Post) – Apparently the TSA’s response to humiliating gropedowns and civil liberties violations of every stripe is to streamline their process at the airport by conducting a full background check prior to travel. This is the Orwellian thought process in full view: violate your Constitutional rights to free you up for movement to a place of your choosing.

Citing a desire to give 25% of travelers a “lighter screening” the TSA will be accessing public databases as well as government intelligence databases prior to you entering an airport. (RT) – Violence broke out between police and demonstrators in Rome on Saturday as tens of thousands took to the streets to protest Italy’s new budget.
