We are looking for more ram for our broadcast computers.  Our main broadcast computer is a Dell Optiplex 745.  Our Ustream broadcast computer is a Dell Optiplex GX620.

The ram needed for the Dell Optiplex 745 is DDR2 PC2-6400 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.8V 256Meg x 64.  There are four slots for the memory and apparently the memory cards need to match to work properly. Right now it is running on 2 gigs and is a little slow.  We would like to up the ram to 8 gigs, which is the maximum amount the computer can take, so that would be 4 cards of 2 gigs each.  Although 4 cards of 1 gig each for a total of 4 gigs would be a definite improvement.   Continue reading “Ram needed for broadcast computers”

It also happens to be the first time that a woman, 34-year-old Martha Lenio, is leading a Mars simulation project.    Continue reading “Lonely planet: Astronauts to simulate life on Mars for 8 months”

On Tuesday, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the first case of Ebola diagnosed in the United States; the infected patient was a man who traveled from Liberia to visit family in Texas. It’s the latest development in the ever-worsening outbreak of the virus, which so far has sickened more than 6,500 people and killed more than 3,000. The United States government has pledged to send help to West Africa to help stop Ebola from spreading—but the main agencies tasked with this aid work say they’re hamstrung by budget cuts from the 2013 sequester.   Continue reading “Budget Cuts “Eroded Our Ability to Respond” to Ebola, Says Top Health Official”
