A new report by UBS and PwC reveals that the world’s super-rich “did extremely well” during the coronavirus crisis this year, increasing their already-huge fortunes by more than a quarter.
According to the research, their wealth grew by 27.5 percent at the height of the crisis, from April to July, reaching a combined $10.2 trillion. The billionaires had mostly benefited from betting on the recovery of global stock markets, UBS said, noting that their wealth had hit “a new high, surpassing the previous peak of $8.9 trillion reached at the end of 2017.”

Anger last night erupted over Nicola Sturgeon’s plans to impose a two-week alcohol ban inside pubs and restaurants across Scotland, while closing bars entirely in coronavirus hotspot areas – a move industry chiefs called a ‘death sentence’ for hundreds of Scottish venues.

Newport Beach, CA — Ian Charles Schenkel, 59, is the CEO of Haliburton International Foods, a global food distribution company worth billions. This week, Schenkel was arrested on accusations that he engaged in child prostitution and human trafficking. A 26-year-old woman is also accused of aiding Schenkel in child trafficking.
According to Newport Beach prosecutors, Schenkel was arrested and faces seven felony and two misdemeanor allegations involving intercourse and lewd acts with two underage victims, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday Sep. 29. Firearms Manufacturer Q LLC announced today that it was issued a Cease and Desist by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms. The ATF’s letter notified Q that the Honey Badger pistol is now considered a Short barreled rifle (SBR) and ordered them to immediately cease production of the firearm unless it is registered on an ATF Form 2, declaring that they are manufacturing an NFA weapon.

Billionaire software tycoon Bill Gates has urged the US to prepare for a Covid-19 vaccine rollout by deputizing trusted community leaders to “reduce vaccine hesitancy,” bemoaning the rapid spread of “conspiracy theories” online.
The Microsoft founder-turned-vaccine-evangelist painted a mostly rosy picture of a vaccine rollout getting “rich countries” back to normal by the end of 2021 in an interview during the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council on Tuesday. ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) — A grand jury indicted Mark and Patricia McCloskey Tuesday on charges of exhibiting guns at protesters in a June incident in their neighborhood and added a charge of tampering with evidence for both members of the couple.

People going to restaurants and bars in the Winnipeg area will see new rules in effect starting Wednesday evening, including cutoff times for liquor and dine-in service and a requirement to leave contact information with staff.
Under those restrictions, liquor service will need to stop between 10 p.m. and 9 a.m., and staff will need to make sure dine-in customers are gone by 11 p.m. Takeout and delivery will still be allowed after that, and dine-in service will be allowed to resume at 6 a.m., Chief Provincial Public Health Officer Dr. Brent Roussin said at a news conference Monday. Columbus, OH — Another police officer has been arrested for child porn. While this happens so often that it is depressingly not surprising, this time, it was the cop’s own soon-to-be 10-year-old step daughter who was the victim.
Columbus police officer Raymond Rose, 29, was arrested last week by an officer with the Franklin County Internet Crimes Against Children task force after being accused of filming a young child in a “state of nudity,” according to Franklin County Municipal Court records. Shocking footage showing a man kicking a teenage girl in the face because she was not wearing a mask on a bus near Birmingham has unleashed a public outcry and prompted an investigation by the police.
The video begins with a middle-aged couple and a teenage girl embroiled in argument over masks, as the girl does not have hers on. At one point, prior to the beginning of the video, one of the pair allegedly told the girl to “go back to her own country.”

Echoing a similar incident a month ago, Victoria police have been caught on camera forcibly arresting a pregnant woman for allegedly breaching the 5km radius rule being heavy-handedly enforced throughout the Australian state.
Footage of the dramatic arrest circulated online, showing a handful of armed police officers towering over a woman – described as pregnant by local media – at the Altona beach in the Melbourne area. An officer is seen trying to put a mask on the detainee as his colleagues handcuff her and repeatedly tell other beachgoers to stand back.
