President-elect Joe Biden said Americans will get $2,000 stimulus checks if Democrats win both Georgia runoffs.
During a Monday rally in Atlanta, Biden said the payments would “go out the door immediately” if Jon Ossoff and Rev. Raphael Warnock win the state’s U.S. Senate seats, saying their victories would “put an end to the block in Washington” on approving the $2,000 payments. The FBI announced on Monday that 2020 recorded the most ever gun background checks, 39,615,315.

Almost lost in the distractions of the holiday weekend, on the night of December 29 up to 400 mostly Cuban migrants forced their way past Mexican immigration and over payment turnstiles on the Paso del Norte Bridge from Ciudad Juarez with a desire to force their way into downtown El Paso, Texas, according to news reporting. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Mobile Field Force officers met them in riot gear and used concrete blocks tipped by concertina wire to block the onslaught mid-bridge as many of the migrants chanted “Biden! Biden!” Many demanded they be let in to live in the United States while they pursue asylum claims, instead of waiting in Mexico as required under various policies of President Donald Trump. A Wisconsin pharmacist accused of intentionally destroying hundreds of doses of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine was a conspiracy theorist who feared the world was ‘crashing down’, court documents claim.
Steven Brandenburg was arrested last week after the 57 spoiled Moderna vials were discovered at Advocate Aurora Health in Grafton, 20 miles north of Milwaukee, last week. Hospitals that don’t use up their supply of Covid-19 vaccines within a week of receiving them will be punished with hefty fines and barred from receiving further doses, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared.
The governor warned hospitals that fail to deploy their vaccine stocks within a week of receiving them that they will not only be fined up to $100,000 but also be cut out of future vaccine distribution. Authorities are searching for a white pickup truck after two explosions in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville and Hill District neighborhoods Sunday night shook some residents’ homes and blew up a car.
City police said an improvised explosive device or IED detonated in the 3600 block of Penn Avenue in Lower Lawrenceville shortly after 9 p.m. About 90 minutes later, a second explosion was reported in the 200 block of Dinwiddie Street in the Hill District. LONDON (AP) — A British judge on Monday rejected the United States’ request to extradite WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange to face espionage charges over the publication of secret U.S. documents a decade ago, saying he was likely to kill himself if held under harsh U.S. prison conditions.
In a mixed ruling for Assange and his supporters, District Judge Vanessa Baraitser rejected defense arguments that the 49-year-old Australian faces a politically motivated American prosecution that rides roughshod over free-speech protections. But she said Assange’s precarious mental health would likely deteriorate further under the conditions of “near total isolation” he would face in a U.S. prison. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department cracked down on New Year’s Eve parties by deploying its “Super-Spreader Task Force.” The strict clampdown resulted in hundreds of partygoers being detained, arrested, and fined.
The Superspreader Task Force was comprised of “hundreds of detectives, patrol deputies, and Specialized Response Teams.” The coronavirus lockdown enforcers crashed five large NYE parties in Los Angeles, Malibu, Hawthorne, and Pomona. The “illegal” celebrations were held in speakeasy locations such as upscale homes, vacant warehouses, a DoubleTree hotel, and shuttered businesses. Robert Caron, one of the organizers of this network, began his intelligence career with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
