Federal authorities have shut down at least six U.S. schools in recent years over allegations of immigration fraud. The schools often dupe students into believing that they are accredited and collect hefty tuition fees, but provide little if any instructional education.

Brian Smeltzer, chief of the Counterterrorism and Criminal Exploitation Unit of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations says frankly, “If there’s a way to make a buck, some people will do it.”   Continue reading “Fake Schools Serve as Visa Mills for Foreign Students”

In a breathless, Drudge Report-linked headline, the Washington Post reported last week that the “Majority of U.S. public school students are in poverty.”

A Huffington Post piece by Rebecca Klein, published 12 minutes earlier, sported a similar headline, “More Than Half Of American Schoolchildren Now Live In Poverty.”

China’s Shanghai futures market crashed by the maximum 10 percent, and trading was suspended on January 19th, while Shanghai Composite Index fell by 7.7 percent. Both events were the worst day of trading since shortly after the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy launched the financial crisis six years ago.

Such an event in the U.S. would be epic, because Americans have 70 percent of household wealth in financial assets, but in China, 75 percent of household wealth is in real estate. If a real estate crash took place in China, it could set off the type of “black swan” event to cause an ugly international panic.   Continue reading “Collapse of China’s Real Estate Could Be Next Financial “Black Swan” Disaster”
