LOS ANGELES (AP) — Less than a day after a Los Angeles police officer shot and killed an unarmed homeless man in a struggle near the beach, Chief Charlie Beck was questioning the need to use deadly force in the confrontation.

Marie Antoinette may or may not have said “Let them eat cake” at the outset of the French Revolution 200-plus years ago, but former United Nations General Secretary Kofi Annan just made Marie Antoinette’s alleged dictate seem downright magnanimous. Pointing his finger at America and other Western democracies, Annan this week said Americans should begin eating insects to do our part to address the fictitious global warming crisis.

Israeli defense minister Moshe Yaalon on Tuesday said Israel would attack entire civilian neighborhoods during any future assault on Gaza or Lebanon.

An oil train derailed and caught fire early Wednesday in a rural area of central North Dakota, prompting the evacuation of a nearby town where about three dozen people live.
No injuries were reported in the accident, which happened about 7:30 a.m. near Heimdal, about 115 miles northeast of Bismarck. The 2014 sales figures for cancer drugs were just published by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics. Sales of cancer drugs have hit a new all-time record: $100 billion. That’s up more than 10 percent from 2013, and up from $75 billion five years earlier.

Fighter jets have attacked Sudan, reports the Arab media, which has suggested that Israel was involved in the strike. Israel declined to comment on the reports.
A Sudanese military source told the news site “Al arabi Al jaded” that its air defenses had operated against fighter jets that entered the Wadi Sidna neighborhood in Omdurman near Khartoum. A man snorkeling in the Colorado River near the Arizona and California border sent authorities on a hunt after he alerted them to what appeared to be “skeletal remains” at the bottom of the river.

According to a brand new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, 96 percent of all Americans believe that there will be more civil unrest in America this summer. That leaves only 4 percent of people that believe that everything will be just fine. In this day and age, it is virtually impossible to get 96 percent of Americans to agree on anything. So the fact that just about everyone agrees that we are going to see more civil unrest should really tell you something. The anger that has been building under the surface for so many years in this country has finally started to erupt. If you have been following my website for a while, you know that this is something that I have been warning about for a very long time. Many people may have thought that I was exaggerating when I talked about the civil unrest that was coming to American cities. But I was not exaggerating at all.
