Researchers from the University of New Hampshire conducted a study to document declines in about 100 wild bee species critical to pollinating crops throughout New England. Earlier this month, we reported that Textron Systems’ AAI Corporation delivered its Next Generation Squad Weapon-Technology (NGSW-T) prototype demonstrator to the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Armaments Center and Joint Services Small Arms Program (JSSAP). A new report from Defense Blog shows the Army will purchase approximately 100,000 units of the next-generation weapon that fires 6.8-millimeter ammunition. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy (D) wants to significantly increase the cost of owning a gun in the state – proposing fees that would be among the highest in the country, according to the New York Times.
Currently, a firearm identification costs $5, a permit to own a gun $2, and a permit to carry a gun costs just $20. Murphy wants to raise that to $100 for the ID, $50 to own a gun and $400 to carry. Israeli soldiers shot a handcuffed and blindfolded Palestinian teenager who was attempting to flee after being detained for suspected stone-throwing in the West Bank on Thursday.
The minor was detained by the Israeli forces after he had been shot, but was later evacuated by Palestinians to receive medical treatment at Beit Jala near Bethlehem. As more states vote to legalize marijuana, either for recreation purposes, medicinal or both, 4/20, once a counter-culture holiday only observed by stoners and deadheads, has become big businesses. It has been embraced by brands, from Lyft, to Totino’s to Ben & Jerry’s, as the AP reports. And although they still step up their enforcement of driving while high around the holiday, police departments, too, have become much more willing to treat the subject with frivolity. El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley are less than two weeks away from the scheduled opening of temporary detention centers that will each house up to 500 migrants who have crossed the border to seek asylum.
The facilities, commonly referred to as a “tent cities,” are the federal government’s response to the ongoing crush of migrants, mainly from Central America, who continue to cross into Texas after traveling through Mexico. Bucks County, PA — An unidentified officer, who pulled his gun and shot an unarmed man inside a jail cell last month was allowed to retire and found out this week that he will not be charged. This decision by the District Attorney is in spite of the fact that the shooting was captured on video and the officer broke multiple department policies.
Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub announced Friday that the officer is going to be free from criminal prosecution for shooting Brian Riling, 38, in the abdomen on March 3. Cannabidiol infused foods and drinks have been on the rise, as the oil’s popularity skyrockets. Carl’s Jr. is the next business to look into adding CBD oil to food items in order to expand their market to include the products.
Maybe CBD oil is the wave of the future! Professional chefs have already declared CBD and cannabis infusion to be the trend of 2019, and Carl’s Jr. want a piece of the market. The fast-food joint will test a CBD-infused burger at one of its Denver locations on April 20, making it the first national fast-food chain to add CBD to its menu. The Department of Homeland Security is considering classifying fentanyl as a weapon of mass destruction, or WMD, according to an internal memo attained by military news outlet Task & Purpose.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio threatened to sue the Trump administration if it sends illegal immigrants to New York City, a “sanctuary city.”

The Trump administration has released a controversial new US government map of Israel that shows the Golan Heights in Syria as being part of Israel, much to the outrage of many online.
Special envoy to the Middle East, Jason Greenblatt, shared the updated map on Twitter on Tuesday. Israel occupied the Syrian region in the 1967 Six Day War and later annexed it in 1981 in a move that was not recognized by the international community or the UN Security Council. National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd claimed Sunday that it is “absolutely legal” for the federal government to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary cities.

A Palestinian family was forced to flee under a barrage of stones when an angry mob of Israeli settlers stormed the village during tension in the West Bank. None of them were detained, human rights groups say.
Human rights groups Yesh Din and B’Tselem said that around 50 Israeli settlers from Yitzhar in the West Bank entered the neighboring Palestinian village of Urif on Saturday, smashing windows of cars and hurling stones at houses. The Trump administration has agreed to allow approximately 2,700 children living in Central America to be reunited with their parents in the United States under a court settlement announced on Friday, according to court documents.
The settlement follows a lawsuit that challenged a decision in 2017 by President Donald Trump’s administration to shut down a program that allowed children living in Central America to be reunited with parents residing legally in the United States.
