Glenn Greenwald, formerly of The Guardian and now of First Look Media, penned a column Monday criticizing both US National Security Agency brass and what he sees as complicit reporters for their role in repeating unverified claims about the intelligence agency. A former prime minister of Israel, is facing a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of bribery, the Tazpit News Agency reported.

A recently released internal document shows what type of group Homeland Security believes poses a serious cyber terrorism threat. The lengthy report was intended for “Trusted Agents Only” and included information the agency stipulated could be “disseminated only on a need-to-know basis.”
The entire document was leaked, however; and a passage near the very end reveals a training exercise that might explain the perceived need for such stringent secrecy. According to directives, even those directly involved in the mission were not to be allowed access to the files. Starving offspring of love and affection could lead to up to 10 years in prison in a move to be unveiled in the Queen’s Speech in early June.

The President’s own task force concluded that NSA spying in the US hadn’t prevented a single act of terrorism (e.g.,Washington Post, 12/23/13) (see also this and this).
The spying is really about gathering information on everybody. Innocent citizens.

A hungry New York City police officer arrested a law student because he asked why they illegally parked at a bus stop, according to a lawsuit filed at a New York court.
The incident began when 22-year-old Tzvi Richt, who studies at Cardozo Law School, headed home and noticed two officers ordering a man to move his car from a bus stop at Kings Highway and East 16th Street. Obama was scheduled to have what was described as an “intimate” dinner with King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia over the weekend, and stay the night in the Kingdom. Howvever the dinner abruptly ended, and Obama left Saudi Arabia after only two hours.
