Zero Hedge

Dear California readers: if you drank tapwater this morning (or at any point in the past few weeks/months), you may be in luck as you no longer need to buy oil to lubricate your engine: just use your blood, and think of the cost-savings. That’s the good news.

Also, the bad news, because as the California’s Department of Conservation’s Chief Deputy Director, Jason Marshall, told NBC Bay Area, California state officials allowed oil and gas companies to pump up to 3 billion gallons (call it 70 million barrels) of oil fracking-contaminated waste water into formerly clean aquifiers, aquifiers which at least on paper are supposed to be off-limits to that kind of activity, and are protected by the government’s EPA – an agency which, it appears, was richly compensated by the same oil and gas companies to look elsewhere.    Continue reading “3 Billion Gallons Of Fracking Wastewater Pumped Into Clean California Aquifiers: “Errors Were Made” State Admits”

How does the President have a secret meeting? By not including it on his schedule. But you can’t keep a secret if you invite Al Sharpton to the meeting:

Protesters are gathering in support of Michael Brown in and around St. Louis as they nervously await what many believe will be an inevitable no-indictment vote in the coming days by a grand jury for the officer who shot him.   Continue reading “Obama Meets Secretly With Riot Organizers–Urges Them To “Stay The Course””

A group of thugs in Hartford, Alabama must have been expecting an “easy score” when they set upon a married couple who was returning home from a night out on Friday.

They fled in a panic after the husband countered with ballistic rhinoplasty from his legally-concealed handgun.   Continue reading “‘Picking’ the Wrong Target: Concealed Carrier Puts Bullet Into Armed Robber’s Nose”

The number released as being an estimate of breadth of the illegal alien amnesty of 4.5 million new economic competitors failed to take into account the law’s inadequate vetting process. They are deliberately understating the numbers and with it the damage done in hopes of reducing the negative backlash from the American people and the accompanying resistance to their scheme.

As Senator Jeff Sessions said in an interview on Fox shortly after the figures were released, whatever information is provided by the applicant will simply be accepted as truth. There will be no verification.   Continue reading “Virtually All Illegals Included In Amnesty – Democrats Can Make These Definitions Fit Every Illegal Alien”

The United States will soon offer refugee status to some undocumented youths from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras as part of a wider immigration reform effort.

It’s completely legal for high-profile Federal officials to spend public funds to do private things, thanks to a convoluted system of rules governing spending and reimbursement for air travel expenses.

Attorney General Eric Holder, for example, flew himself, his daughters, his daughters’ boyfriends and two guards to the Belmont Stakes in June – a trip that cost $14,440 in public funds. But since he is legally obligated only to pay the reimbursement equivalent of what that trip would have cost on a commercial air service, he repaid the government $955.   Continue reading “Eric Holder Spends $14,000 In Public Funds To Fly His Kids Around In A Government Plane; Pays Only $1,000 In Reimbursement”

There is no question as to whether or not veterans are more prepared than average civilians in situations where the ability to think on your feet is necessary. In this video, the home invader quickly received the message loud and clear, but it was too late for him to retreat.

According to LiveLeak, the veteran had been prepared for the invader, since his neighbor spotted him breaking in the same home earlier in the week. As anyone wanting to spring a trap might do, he “installed motion sensors and door chimes,” and waited for the inevitable return of the individual.   Continue reading “Intruder Given Dose of Instant Karma for Invading Veteran’s Home”

A St. Louis County town that neighbors Ferguson, Missouri, is warning residents to prepare for potential unrest that may follow the grand jury announcement in the Michael Brown case.

The Washington State Obamacare exchange went offline Saturday morning just hours after the start of the 2015 open enrollment period for the health-care law.

The website was incorrectly calculating the amount of advanced premium tax credits, effectively premium subsidies and the exchange took the website down entirely while it tries to fix the problem.   Continue reading “Washington’s Obamacare Exchange Is Already Shut Down”

Myths-about-the-United-StatesSovereign Man – by Simon Black

Years ago, an elderly, frail Japanese martial arts master once boasted a 200-0 record against his opponents.

He claimed to have a unique power that allowed him to inflict serious injury on people without actually laying a finger on them.

Was it Chi? Magic? None of the above. It was a total scam. But that didn’t matter.

You see, the legend of the master’s powers turned out to be far more powerful than reality. Continue reading “Nine of the biggest myths that people believe about the system”

James KilgoreChicago Tribune – by Jodi S. Cohen, Michelle Manchir

In a change of direction, University of Illinois officials paved the way Thursday for convicted felon James Kilgore to again teach on campus, the latest controversial faculty decision at the state school.

Kilgore’s contract was not renewed after his criminal past was the subject of a newspaper story and board members expressed concern about his employment. But on Thursday, U. of I. board members, including Chairman Christopher Kennedy, who once referred to Kilgore as a “domestic terrorist,” decided to allow university officials to rehire Kilgore if they choose.   Continue reading “U. of I. clears way for convicted radical to teach again”

The Republicans won the election. Everyone on the right is thrilled about being able to depose Harry Reid and stop Obama. Hooray for us!

Now just two weeks later an inevitable and all too predictable reality has set in. The Republicans have begun surrendering before the battle even starts.

Biz Pac Review reported of Trey Gowdy’s (whom I mostly love), appearance on the Bill O’Reilly show Thursday. Gowdy said “Impeaching the president is a really bad idea. Have you met Joe Biden?”   Continue reading “Republicans – What Are They Good For”
