The .416 Barrett is a caliber that even many firearms enthusiasts haven’t heard of. Lawmakers created a bill banning the .50 BMG rifle from being sold in California, and Arnold signed it into law in 2004. At this time, there were not very many of these rifles in the hands of private individuals and none of them had been used in a crime. Bans like this actually force engineers to create not only legal, but improved technology.
