Bell and Evans breaded chicken products recalled

KMTV – by Marjorie Sturgeon

The U.S. Dept. of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service has issued a high risk recall for nearly 32,000 pounds of chicken from Murrry’s Inc. shipped nationwide.

The recall is for 12 ounce boxes of Bell and Evans Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets and 10.5 ounce boxes of Bell and Evans Gluten Free Breaded Chicken Breast with a best by date of Aug. 9, 2015.

The products included in the recall will have the establishment number “P-516” inside the USDA inspection mark.

Officials say the recall is because of a possible contamination of Staphylococcal enterotoxin, which causes food poisoning, discovered by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

FSIS says food poisoning symptoms from Staphylococcal enterotoxins can happen in as little as 30 minutes, and they include: nausea, vomiting, stomach, cramps and diarrhea.

There have not been any reports of illness related to the products.

  1. Several months ago I read that due to trade negotiations that all chickens would now be processed in China. Could this be the start of the China connection? If true, look for many more recalls to come.
