It’s official, law enforcement has turned bus drivers into an extension of the police state.
In San Jose, Califonia, an Appeals court ruling revealed that police regularly hand bus drivers “Be on the Lookout’ (BOLO) fliers.
Which effectively turns them into police informants.
The ruling, describes how police searched an innocent passenger based on a bus driver’s mistaken identification.
On May 7, 2015, a VTA bus driver thought he recognized a suspected child sex abuser and notified the police. The police showed up and arrested the sleeping passenger, despite knowing he did not match the BOLO suspect.
Police are using bus drivers to conduct illegal searches, just like they use private hospitals to take motorist’s blood without a warrant.
It is time to face the facts, police are using citizen’s accusations to arrest and question anyone.
Appeals court: Bus drivers are true citizen informants
The Appeals court ruling, admits that police view erroneous citizen [bus driver] reports as RELIABLE.
Without going into great detail about what is wrong with this ruling.
Let me point out the obvious, the bus driver was not anonymous, law enforcement regularly handed out BOLO’s to bus drivers. It would not surprise me to learn, that law enforcement probably knows bus drivers on a first name basis.
The Appeals court also ruled, that bus drivers are true police citizen informants!
Does anyone really believe that bus drivers are being turned into ‘voluntary’ police informants?
What the hell is happening to America?
Unfortunately, bus informants are not the only thing we have worry about.
For years, DHS and law enforcement have been turning buses into rolling surveillance platforms, outfitting them with surveillance cameras inside and out and using microphones to spy on passengers.
A 2015 article in Wired revealed, that Transit authorities across the country are installing DHS cameras with microphones on buses..
“Four to six cameras with mics are generally installed throughout a bus, including one near the driver and one on the exterior of the bus.”
Two years ago, Maryland, Atlanta and San Francisco also began installing microphones to spy on everyone.
“Unbeknownst to many riders, the Maryland Transit Administration has been recording sound, as well as video, on 487 of its 771 buses, starting in 2013, in the name of safety and customer service. So are cities like Atlanta and San Francisco. In fact, the ability to record sight and sound comes standard on most new bus fleets being bought by city and state transit agencies.”
Also in 2015, the Long Island Transit company NICE, began using ten surveillance cameras to spy on passengers.
The Wired article, warned people that cities like San Francisco, California; Eugene, Oregon; Traverse City, Michigan; Columbus, Ohio; Concord, New Hampshire; Baltimore Maryland; Hartford, Connecticut; and Athens, Georgia wanted to install cameras and microphones on their buses.
Where does it end?
When will Americans stand up and demand an end to mass surveillance?
