Positive results for radiation exposure were found in 13 workers following a leak at the United States’ first underground nuclear waste repository near Carlsbad, New Mexico, an Associated Press report stated.

Officials said that all employees were checked for external contamination before they left the Waste Isolation Pilot Project (WIPP) facility the day the leak occurred, but that biological samples were also taken to test for the possibility that they were breathing in radioactive particles.   Continue reading “New Mexico nuclear plant workers exposed to radiation”

US Border Patrol agents have purposely stepped in front of moving cars to justify shooting at drivers and used firearms against people throwing rocks across the border from Mexico, according to an independent review of 67 cases that resulted in 19 deaths.

A report by law enforcement experts chastised the Border Patrol for substandard investigations following cases where US agents fired their weapons. Diners at eight Gator’s Dockside casual eateries are finding a 1% Affordable Care Act surcharge on their tabs, which comes to 15 cents on a typical $15 lunch tab. A pair of burglars made off with $200,000 after wearing extremely realistic-looking masks and dressing as New York City cops. Edward Byam, 24, and Akeem Monsalvatge, 37, of Queens, dressed up as NYPD officers and wore the masks, making it appear that the two – both African American – were white.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Federal grand juries have indicted six current and former San Francisco police officers, charging three with stealing money, drugs, electronics and gift cards seized during investigations, federal prosecutors announced Thursday.

Yats, as Victoria Nuland, the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the U.S. State Department, called him, is a natural choice. He is a millionaire former banker who served as economy minister, foreign minister and parliamentary speaker before Yanukovych took office in 2010. He is a member of Yulie Tymoshenko’s Fatherland Party. Prior to the revolution cooked up by the State Department and executed by ultra-nationalist street thugs, Tymoshenko was incarcerated for embezzlement and other crimes against the people of Ukraine. A man who tried to rob a bookmakers in Glasgow while armed with a cucumber has been jailed for 40 months.

Gary Rough brandished the vegetable, which was covered in a sock, at a female worker at the Ladbrokes shop in Shettleston and demanded cash.

Governor Jay Inslee of Washington State yesterday signed legislation which will offer college financial aid to students brought into the United States illegally by their parents. California, Illinois, Texas, and New Mexico have passed similar legislations. Organic farming apparently is now a crime in at least one country, as organic winemaker Emmanuel Giboulot could face up to six months in prison and a $41,250 fine because he refused to spray the vines at his family’s organic vineyard with a pesticide.

Giboulot, of France, is being prosecuted for “failing to apply an insecticide treatment to his vineyard” last July, The Guardian reported. Officials from France’s agriculture ministry ordered Giboulot to spray a pesticide called Pyrevert on his vines because they suspected the plants were infested with the cicadelle, or leafhopper.
