Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy has a message for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid: Get out of Nevada and go back to D.C.
“Harry, get back there and take care of that work and leave us alone here in Nevada,” Bundy said Tuesday on Fox News’s “Hannity.” “You have no business here in Clark County, Nevada.”
Bundy’s comments came as he was asked about Reid’s comments that the standoff between Bundy and the Bureau of Land Management was “not over.”
Tensions rose this weekend as the BLM rounded up Bundy’s cattle, citing unpaid grazing fees. However, after protesters — some of whom were reportedly armed — had a standoff against BLM agents, the Nevada rancher’s cattle were returned.
But Monday, Reid, the Silver State’s Democratic senator, said the situation hasn’t ended.
“Well, it’s not over,” Reid told NBC’s Reno affiliate KRNV on Monday. “We can’t have an American people that violate the law and then just walk away from it. So it’s not over.”
Bundy said Reid has other issues to deal with in Washington.
“I got something to say to Harry, ‘You know, Harry, Nevada citizens — we, the people — elected you to go back to United States Senate and take care of United States’ business,” Bundy said. “Which might be something like defend us from foreign nations.”
Host Sean Hannity asked what would happen if the family faced a raid.
“Well, first they got to say, ‘Harry get your army out of Nevada. Get your army way from my ranch … and keep it out,’” Bundy said. “And if they come, we’ll deal with them tonight.”
