A Colorado man is expected to make a full recovery after suffocating a mountain lion to death when the animal attacked him while he was running.
According to The Coloradoan, the man was jogging on a path in Horsetooth Mountain Park near Fort Collins when the 80-pound animal appeared from behind and began attacking him. Despite suffering cuts to his face and wrists from the lion’s claws, the unidentified man was able to wrestle himself free from the feline. Per The Denver Post, the jogger took himself to a nearby hospital after hiking to safety.
When speaking to authorities, the man alleged that he ultimately killed the lion by suffocating it to death. This would later be confirmed by the wildlife officials who located the animal’s corpse near where the ambush occurred.
After additional investigation, including examination of the lion, we have confirmed the victim's account that he was able to suffocate the animal while defending himself from the attack.

“It’s an amazing story. Everyone is baffled and impressed,” Rebecca Ferrell, a representative for Colorado Parks and Wildlife said in disbelief. “He had no weapons, no knives or trekking poles with him. How did he do it? It’s pretty rare. That is definitely a twist on this, I’m sure.”
As of Tuesday, the jogger was still nursing his bruises in the hospital. Ferrell also mentioned that authorities will pay the jogger a visit to the hospital in order to better understand his tactics behind fighting and eventually killing the lion.
DUDE WAS A BADASS

I can see this being used as justification to gun grab. See, you don’t need guns or knives to protect yourself, just learn the suffocating technique.
The “authorities” will better understand his tactics perhaps so they can write it down in the manual their working on titled, “Who needs guns or knives when suffocation is equally efficient.”
His panther style was puurrrrrfect!.
But how is his dragon style?
He grabbed that puss and owned it. Trumster would be proud.
No one saw this
no recording of it?
His Story
whos to say the cat didnt have a health issue and just died at that time , heart attack etc?
I’d like to sit in front of this guy and let him tell his story ..see if it adds up
sorry so cynical but you can thank the US Government for my stance , especially when it comes to strange shit
“sorry so cynical but you can thank the US Government for my stance , especially when it comes to strange shit”
LOL! Fully understand!
He needs to be the new “Most Interesting Man in the World” Guy.
Seriously.
Right now, he is the only person able to say, “I was attacked from behind by a real cougar. And I choked to death. Then jogged to the hospital.”
Good for him, but I don’t care if he was able to choke the “kitty”–Good on him, but still…watch out for mountain lions!
So how long before some group tries to sue this guy because the cat was suffocated and “suffered” instead of being killed outright even thought the hiker had no weapons?
I saw a fella I know take on a full grown Saint Bernard that attacked him when he got out of his car at a gas station. I’ve known the guy all my life, this is when we were pretty young, he might have been 18 or 20. He was wiry and strong and a good fighter. Right when the dog went to make his jump, Arny feinted one way with his shoulder and spun around the dog the other way, wrapping a full nelson on the dog’s throat and landing on its back. With his weight, he held the dog in a sitting position as he tightened his grip on the throat. By the time the dog’s owner covered the 20 feet to get to the dog, he had it choked out to the point that all the fight was gone out of it and it didn’t want to be around him anymore.
Of course anybody who has ever had a cat explode on their lap knows this would be one hell of a trick to pull off with even an 80 pound cougar, but if he did it, I’ve got to believe that is how he did it.
Remember, panic will get you killed every time. My buddy assessed the situation within a couple of seconds and then executed his plan perfectly. The fella who did this did it through quick thought and not hesitating to act.
“Remember, panic will get you killed every time”
And Thats a Fact !
My family pet when i was a kid , was a 200 pound St Bernard
No one messed with us kids ..not even Dad..when she was around
