Consider the two counties in Oregon (Jackson and Josephine) that banned GMO crops.

Consider the measures in Maui, Kauai, and the Big Island of Hawaii that blocked further development of GMOs and the spraying of toxic pesticides.

They all won.   Continue reading “GMO wars: the right of people to nullify fascism”

TEL AVIV, Israel, Dec. 15 (UPI) — An Israeli energy company said it’s discovered what may be the third largest natural gas basin in the country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

Minority partner Israel Opportunity said the so-called Royee field may hold around 3.2 trillion cubic feet of natural gas. Located in the eastern Mediterranean, it would be the third largest in the region after the Leviathan and Tamar fields if reserve estimates are correct.   Continue reading “New major gas find offshore Israel”

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Long depicted as the rootin’-tootin’ capital of American gun culture, Texas is one of the few states with an outright ban on the open carry of handguns.

That could change in 2015, with the Republican-dominated Legislature and Gov.-elect Greg Abbott expected to push for expanded gun rights. “If open carry is good enough for Massachusetts, it’s good enough for the state of Texas,” Abbott said the day after his election last month.   Continue reading “Texas weighs allowing open carry of handguns”

Chris Ciovacco:  In Tuesday’s Wall Street Journal, a reporter with excellent contacts at the Fed, Jon Hilsenrath, penned the following:

Federal Reserve officials are seriously considering an important shift in tone at their policy meeting next week: dropping an assurance that short-term interest rates will stay near zero for a “considerable time” as they look more confidently toward rate increases around the middle of next year.

Close to three weeks have passed since the mass shooting incident at Florida State University where three individuals were injured and Attorney Myron May perished in a hail of police gunfire.

Major news media consider the FSU shooting more or less a closed case. After all, what more is there to hype? Let’s see. A madman with a gun. Check. Terrified witness interviews publicized. Check. Alleged shooter’s bizarre online statements suggesting derangement highlighted. Check. Official pleas for “unity,” “strength,” and “healing.” Check. Photo op candlelight vigil providing ideal narrative closure. Check.   Continue reading ““Media Partners” In Mass Shooting Events”

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) – Former Chicago cop Steve Mandell was sentenced to life in prison plus five years Thursday after a federal judge ruled that the public needs to be protected from him, the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Convicted at the end of a spectacularly lurid trial in February, Mandell, 64, plotted to abduct Riverside businessman Steve Campbell, take him to a purpose-built Northwest Side torture chamber, extort him into turning over property, then kill him and chop him up with a meat cleaver and a buzz-saw on a man-sized butcher’s block. Much of his planning was captured on tape secretly by the FBI. The feds arrested him before the scheme could be carried out.   Continue reading “‘Psychopath’ ex-cop gets life in prison plus five years for torture plot”

Five people have escaped from a popular Sydney cafe after they had been taken hostage — with others still held inside as neighboring blocks remain locked down, authorities said.

Two people inside the cafe were seen holding up a flag with Arabic writing on it that has been used by extremists in the past — raising fears that a terror attack was unfolding in Australia’s largest city.   Continue reading “Sydney Hostage Crisis: 5 People Escape Lindt Chocolate Shop, Standoff Continues”

Entirely dispelled are any lingering doubts about the disdain Israel has for international law. Before going any further, just reflect upon all the apologist responses to the global condemnation of the Mediterranean Massacre. All the toadies that carry the water for the Zionist despotism are predictable and deceitful. Based on a foundation of sand their mantra ignores the facts and rests on false axioms.

NeoCon Glenn Beck is a devoted cheerleader of Zionism. Making things worse, he is also a Dispensationalist. Departing from the solid research on condemning the failed philosophy of Progressivism, Beck demeans his audience with a false history of Palestine and the nature of the Israeli state. His religious doctrine regarding Israel makes him an apostate. Duping well intentions, but ill-informed viewers into accepting the crimes of Israel, as the will of God, is why he is a Trojan horse.   Continue reading “Pirates with Nukes”

We thought John McCain might say that. And to be clear, he hasn’t officiallydeclared anything just yet. But can there be any doubt now that he’s not going away?

John McCain says he is “most likely” running for re-election in 2016, but is aware that he will be a top target for conservative groups gunning for establishment Republicans in primaries. In an interview with CNN, the Arizona senator stepped closer to pulling the trigger on a campaign for a sixth term and seems to be spoiling for the fight.
