In an interview with CBN News, Senator Rubio talked about his fear that ‘mainstream’ Christianity and Catholic teaching could soon be labeled as ‘hate speech’ in this country:
“If you think about it, we are at the water’s edge of the argument that mainstream Christian teaching is hate speech. Because today we’ve reached the point in our society where if you do not support same-sex marriage, you are labeled a homophobe and a hater.” Continue reading “Rubio: ‘Clear and Present Danger’ That Christianity Could be Labeled as ‘Hate Speech’”
The death toll continues to rise in flood-ravaged Texas and Oklahoma and as receding floodwaters revealed mounting destruction, rains continue to threaten even more flooding on Wednesday.
In hard-hit Houston, some of that destruction came Tuesday in the form of a waste water treatment plant so inundated with waters from an overflowing nearby bayou that more than 100,000 gallons of raw sewage spilled out into surrounding floodwaters. BALTIMORE (AP) — A 31-year-old woman and a young boy were shot in the head Thursday, becoming Baltimore’s 37th and 38th homicide victims so far this month, the city’s deadliest in 15 years.
Meanwhile, arrests have plunged: Police are booking fewer than half the number of people they pulled off the streets last year. Arrests were already declining before Freddie Gray died on April 19 of injuries he suffered in police custody, but they dropped sharply thereafter, as his death unleashed protests, riots, the criminal indictment of six officers and a full-on civil rights investigation by the U.S. Justice Department that has officers working under close scrutiny. HONOLULU (AP) — Honolulu’s top prosecutor is dismissing cases against 16 women arrested in a massage parlor prostitution sting after the sex assault charges they faced drew criticism.
The women were arrested this month during an operation involving Honolulu police and federal authorities. But instead of being arrested on suspicion of prostitution, police accused the women of sex assault. Continue reading “No sex assault charges for women in massage parlor sting”
AQUINNAH, Mass. (AP) — An iconic Martha’s Vineyard’s lighthouse has begun its gradual move from its rapidly eroding cliffside perch.
Powerful hydraulic jacks inched the Gay Head Lighthouse roughly 5 feet along steel rails just before noon Thursday. The 400-ton brick-and-mortar lighthouse had been lifted off the ground about 6 feet and placed on a wood-and-steel frame for the move. Dare to publish a scientific study against Big Biotech, and Monsanto will defame and discredit you. For the first time, a Monsanto employee admits that there is an entire department within the corporation with the simple task of ‘discrediting’ and ‘debunking’ scientists who speak out against GMOs.
The WHO recently classified glyphosate, a chemical in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide Roundup, as carcinogenic – news that is really heating things up with biotech. So Monsanto has been demanding that the World Health Organization (WHO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) retract their statements about the poisons’s toxicity to human health. In 1866, Russian scientist Alexander Saytzeff isolated a most curious and peculiar chemical compound. It was crystalline, odor-less, non-toxic and had a garlic-like taste when consumed. At the time, Saytzeff had no way to predict that his discovery was going to prove highly controversial throughout its entire medical history, that it was going to be tested in thousands of studies and provide miraculous relief for numerous patients. The economic crisis in Ukraine is increasingly exposing the twisted priorities of its government.
It should be said clearly that the existential crisis the Ukrainian economy now faces is a direct consequence of the country’s political crisis.
Ukraine’s economy was in poor shape in 2013. Decades of corruption and mismanagement had whittled away the economy’s potentially large resources, while Yanukovych’s policy of maintaining the value of the hryvnia had damaged the economy’s competitiveness and denuded its foreign currency reserves. The situation was made worse by constant crippling trade disputes with Russia, Ukraine’s biggest trade partner, which was aggravated in 2013 by Yanukovych’s decision to seek an Association Agreement with the EU. Economic Collapse – by Michael Snyder
Presidents have always exercised emergency powers, but now thanks to dozens of new laws, regulations, court decisions and executive orders, Barack Obama is the most powerful president in all of U.S. history. Of course the U.S. Constitution does not actually give the president any special powers during a time of national emergency, but over time presidents have decided that they should be able to exercise such powers and the courts have generally agreed with them. During World War II and prior to that, these emergency powers were largely uncodified and were primarily used during times of war. But since World War II things have completely changed, and this has particularly been true since 9/11. Over the past decade or so, a whole host of extraordinary powers have specifically been given to the office of the president, and all that it takes to exercise them is a major “national emergency”. So if we do have a full-blown economic collapse, a historic natural disaster, a significant war or a massive pandemic, Barack Obama could use the emergency powers that he has been given to essentially take authority over everything. Mass surveillance under the Patriot Act is so awful that even its author says that the NSA has gone far beyond what the Act intended (and that the intelligence chiefs who said Americans aren’t being spied on should be prosecuted for perjury).
Specifically, the government is using a “secret interpretation” of the Patriot Act which allows the government to commit mass surveillance on every American. Continue reading “Even If Patriot Act Expires, Government Will Keep Spying On All Americans”
