OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — One person was reportedly killed and another injured Sunday afternoon when a gunman shot a man outside the Jewish Community Center and then injured another outside Village Shalom, an assisted living facility.
Witnesses tell FOX 4 reporters that there are two crime scenes:
115th and Nall- Jewish Community Center
123rd and Nall- Village Shalom
Another police source told FOX 4 that both victims are dead, but other officials we spoke to confirmed only one dead and another injured.
It is a fluid situation and FOX 4 has multiple teams on location to bring you the latest. The Jewish Community Center is on lockdown.
Mike Metcalf was at the Jewish Community Center when he heard a gunshot and saw a man with a gun.
“My son and I were walking into the Jewish Community Center this afternoon for an umpire clinic, around the westside and all of the sudden we heard a gunshot, a pretty loud gunshot,” said Mike Metcalf. “I turned to look to my right and I can see a man standing outside a car with a shotgun, what to me looked like a shotgun, and there was somebody laying on the ground.”
Metcalf said he yelled at his son to run as fast as he could.
