DPR militia fighters say that the military and political situation worsened sharply

Sources in the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s republic speak about the recent worsening of the military and political situation in the region.

“The situation worsened sharply over the last few days. The number of firefights, which reduced from 107 down to 4–6 before, yesterday again increased to 22,” — the speaker of the People’s Council of the DPR Andrey Purgin told “Interfax”. He said that Kiev didn’t withdraw heavy weapons “properly” and that the economic blockade of the region only gets worse.

“The economic blockade increased sharply, the regime on the checkpoints became more stringent on the Ukrainian side.Detentions of absolutely uninvolved people by the Ukrainian military continue as before. For example, yesterday they detained two paperboys, who drove to a Ukrainian checkpoint in the area of Yelenovka by taking a wrong turn absolutely accidentally. They have nothing to do with military action,” — said Purgin.

Meanwhile, he is skeptical about the possibility of implementing the new Minsk agreements, if any such agreements are to be achieved.

“It would seem that there is a clear way out here — conducting the next talks. But Kiev is not going to observe these agreements. Talks are talks, but they try to achieve their goals by any means, despite any agreements,” — said Purgin.

PS. Actually, the very thing about which I wrote several times is happening. The junta blends into the woodwork and sabotages even the most obvious points of the Minsk agreements. No full POW exchange happened yet, the shelling couldn’t be fully stopped, the junta is effectively not withdrawing forces. Moreover, there is accumulation of forces for the next stage of the war. Not speaking about the refusal to engage in the dialogue with the DPR and the LPR and the absence of the desire to lift the blockade. Overall, there is nothing surprising that the situation is sometimes sharply worsening and at other times it improves a bit, because this is exactly the scheme that was used for the previous “truce”. Actually, the summary in the spirit of “captain obvious to the rescue” is that Kiev is not going to observe these agreements, which was in principle clear right after the start of the third “truce”. Overall, if nothing changes significantly here, then after a month or two of low-intensity shelling and fighting we may expect the next outburst of military action on the background of convulsive attempts to rig the fourth “truce”.

PS. Among the interesting facts: units of the 79th air-mobile brigade are being redeployed to Perekop, which along with the recent mining of bridges in Chongar suggests the renewal of some military preparations in the area of Crimea, in which the junta traditionally engages during periods of “truce”. However, it is unlikely that the junta will be able to accumulate something significant there in the nearest month in order to try its luck in the area of Perekop and Chongar.

  1. Isn’t it strange how nobody ever reports that peace and free trade have worsened sharply? It leaves one to wonder if its all just a power game where even a fine American like Lindsay Graham would sacrifice the best interests of his brain dead constituents for his own self interest? Naw!
