Groundhog wanted for fraud after predicting early spring

WTHR 13

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) — It’s March. It’s cold. That groundhog lied about spring coming soon.

Now, local authorities are looking for him to hold him accountable.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Office posted a wanted poster for Punxsutawney Phil due to fraud.

“Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring on February 2nd 2019,” the department wrote in the post. “Evidence has shown this to be fraudulent.”

In Noblesville, the fire department had the same idea.

“That act of fraud has made an already cruel winter even worse,” the post said.

In Greenfield, the police department took a more straightforward approach, calling the groundhog a liar.

We’ll be glad whenever someone catches the con-hog to prevent him from making the same mistake.

The good news is there are only 15 days until spring actually starts.
