In the October General Election, nearly 4 out of 5 residents in Gustavus, Alaska voted against (196 to 54) the installation of law enforcement (or VPSO) in their quiet little town. Gustavus is one of the largest, if not the largest community in Alaska to police itself.
Most residents in this remote town are proud of their ability to live together peaceably without the need of police officers to keep order. Based off the voting outcome we assume the majority of the town feels they don’t need to change or fix that which isn’t broken.
The absence of law enforcement is one of the big attractions that drew us to this little wilderness paradise when we purchased the Glacier Bay Country Inn five years ago.
In addition, Gustavus is particularly appealing because it’s one of the few places in the U.S. where you actually own your property, instead of renting it from the government. That’s right. Gustavus Alaska has no property taxes. Try not paying your property taxes anywhere else and see how long you “own” your property.
Did I mention there is no building department? Not only can you own private property in Gustavus, but you can actually build something on your property without having to get permission from the government and then pay additional fees for the privilege.

If a town with Law Enforcement in place voted to rid themselves from the goons, do you suppose they would go peacefully?
Imagine the campaign. Fear porn would plaster the airwaves and papers. “I taught I tah a tewwowist!”. “Murder, rape, stealing candy from babies!” “The horror, the horror, the horror”! Litterin’, spittin’ on the sidewalk, stepping on cracks, public nose picking and arse scratching would be rampant!”
One or two towns have already fired their cops, but I think mainly for financial reasons.
Every town (and city) should rid themselves of that garbage. They’re a menace to society, and firing them all may be to only way to prevent them from being slaughtered, because the American people have had enough of the brainless idiots running around killing people (when they’re not robbing or raping them)
They were threatening to quit in Baltimore if they weren’t allowed to continue behaving like goons, and the people should have jumped on the opportunity to get rid of the useless bastards right then and there.
Watch that town get flooded with Muslim invaders just to show the people why they need enforcers. The enforcers will then thug up on the residents and protect the Muslims.
Would like to see that start.
The outcome seems obvious. The town would take care of business.
Like Bullwinkle said, they will probably try and do something to show the people that they need the pigs to protect them.
However, with the Fukushima radiation flying over them at a rapid pace and killing every animal and sea life at an abundant rate, I guess it won’t matter.
Alaska was a beautiful place until Fukushima hit. Now everything is dying along with everything on the West Coast.
And it won’t stop ever. The Alaskan and West coast are just the beginning. I hate to say it, but it won’t be long before people start “dropping like flies” from this radiation. Maybe 5 years but Fukushima will burn and contaminate until eternity. So stretch out, reach down to touch your toes, curl under and shove it up. Congradulations, you just joined the Democratic Party! Humanity, at this point, is a “ticking time bomb” with Repugs reaching for the missile firing button. We’re in deep doo-do people, insane people in charge and their goal is to kill 95% of Earth’s inhabitants.
