Houston police officer in stable condition after being shot in back, report says

Fox News

A Houston police officer was reportedly in stable condition Tuesday night after he was shot in the back during a traffic stop.

The Houston Chronicle reports Houston Police Department motorcycle officer Terry Smith, 47, was shot in the back at 6 p.m. in the Midtown area of the city. He is expected to remain in the hospital for a few more days to recover, the newspaper reports.

Police are still unsure who shot the 20-year police veteran and the motive behind it.

“It’s unclear right now what the actual circumstances are. We really need the public’s help on this one,” said Victor Senties, an HPD spokesman.

Police do not think the traffic stop had anything to do with the shooting because the driver had already left Smith when the shot was fired.

Smith did not know what happened, Senties said. “All he knew was that he heard a loud ‘pop’ and felt some pain.”

A police captain had expressed concerns that biker groups could be targeting cops after the gang shooting in Waco, Fox 26 reports. The official told the station that a warning was sent out to police to watch out because they could be targeted.

Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived on the scene to examine Smith and found a gunshot wound in his back, officials said.

  1. Maybe we should set up a faceplace Suck fest so all the brain deads can like ” our police risk there lives everyday/more police/give money to this ‘brave’ man for doing such a scary and heroic job”. I can see it now and I know all you can. You know how this is going to play out and so do the dirtnecks “in charge”. Too predicable, I got “a dressin down” from some soccer mom for commenting on how a local cop stopped in a park to play with kids. She actually went out of her way to send me a private message to say that line of bs we all know “it’s dangerous, he’s a hero” I just have to laugh and keep on truckin. Most frustrating.

  2. I know of a great medical examiner who is an expert on ballistics. Perhaps you’ve heard of him? Wayne Carver III?

Not even enough info about a shooting to have a shooting story.

    Fishy at best

  3. Sounds to convenient considering the bikers just had a protest in Waco. Guess you have to have someone to blame for the problems you made for yourself.

  4. “We really need the public’s help on this one,….”

Fat chance. If you need the public’s help with anything, maybe you should stop robbing, beating and killing them.

If I witnessed this shooting, I’d pretend I didn’t. Turn your head, and see nothing.

hell I might even go one up ,and give them nothing but BravoSerra as it seems that lately thats all we’re getting from them

not helping Us? not helping you .. too hard for their thin blue brains to figure out im sure

    1. it was after he let the motorist go,, so it wasnt who he pulled over

      in the story

“Police do not think the traffic stop had anything to do with the shooting because the driver had already left Smith when the shot was fired.”

  5. It be interesting if this turns into an epidemic .. than maybe , just maybe the Waco pay back might be slowly starting to play out.. Im waiting ..patently

  6. Like I’ve said before, the pig wives better start getting used to taking out the trash and mowing the lawns themselves. Oh, and when you’re doing the around the house fix-ups, girls, it’s “righty tighty, lefty loosey”. Over and out.
