The TelegraphA major gas pipeline exploded in central Ukraine on Tuesday on the main line that carries Russian gas through Ukraine out to the rest of Europe.
The flames are said to have reached up to 200 metres high and sent a huge fire raging in the fields crossed by the pipeline.
This comes a day after the Russian energy company Gazprom said it was cutting off supplies to Ukraine in a dispute over pricing.
Ukraine’s interior minister said today that the explosion had been caused by a bomb.
