Lois Lerner’s lost emails are most likely gone forever.
In the wake of the news that a computer crash destroyed over two years’ worth of Lois Lerner’s emails, House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa on Tuesday subpoenaed her hard drive. Unfortunately, according to a source in the IRS’ IT department, that subpoena is unlikely to turn up much.
As a matter of practice, says the source, the IRS discards damaged hard drives after wiping them of all data. ”If we can run them, we have to wipe them,” he says. If they will not run, the agency destroys them completely by magnetically degaussing them.
In both cases, the damaged hard drives are disposed of. “You’re not supposed to keep them around,” the source says. “You destroy the data.”
That apparently is part of a standard government procedure, but the revelation is sure to roil Republican lawmakers who had hoped there would be some way to recover the e-mails that the IRS said the computer crash had destroyed.
It is also part of a broader problem: Government record-keeping practices aren’t very good. At the IRS, servers are backed up for only six months and more permanent record keeping is, it appears, an individual responsibility, with agency employees instructed to print hard copies of documents that may be subject to freedom of information requests.
What about the NSA’s copy of her e-mails? That’s a lot like the surveillance cameras that are never working when a cop commits a crime. (or the government blows something up)
I say throw the wretched bitch in a hole with a few dozen hungry rats and leave her there until she’s eaten alive. Who needs her?
(that prohibition of cruel and unusual punishments is really going to be hard on me, but if we’re fighting for the Bill of Rights, I guess we have to respect it).

Well quite simply…. YOUR EMAILS ARE STORED ON THE PROVIDERS SERVER NOT EACH COMPUTERS INDIVIDUAL HARD DRIVE.
Anyone remember that famous eighteen minute gap in Nixon’s Watergate tapes?Years later,i think his secretary admitted she was the one who erased the 18 mins on the tape.These deleted Emails are very much like erased tapes.Both are hiding incriminating evidence. Would the IRS let a taxpayer get away with crap like this?Hell no,they would throw the book at you,and lock your ass up.The IRS needs to be held accountable for this,not just Lois Lerner.Our judges and law makers need to stop these Gestopo like tactics carried out by the IRS.

He should contact the Chinese, I’m sure they have back-ups of all the IRS and NSA data gained from their extensive hacking campaign which our Nation’s Leaders appear to allow to go on with impunity.
