Anna Maria Tremonti, Host: How big a problem are the leaks at the Fukushima plant?
David McNeill, Japan correspondent for The Chronicle of Higher Education and writes for The Independent and Irish Times newspapers: Well, they’re enormous. It’s hard to underestimate because what you have here is the world’s first triple meltdown. The engineers only have a vague idea where the fuel that has melted down is. They know where it isn’t, but they actually don’t know exactly where it is. So what they’re doing to keep this fuel cool is they’re pouring thousands and thousands of gallons of water on to the fuel to make sure it doesn’t heat up. So you’ve got all that water on site which of course once it goes onto those reactors it’s contaminated.

McNeill: This is like a vast experiment. There’s never really been an accident like this is such a densly populated place. We’re reassured by the government all the time that it’s safe, but we’ve heard so many lies […] The problem is of such magnitude now, they can no longer deny it […]
TEPCO lied from day one. They said all the reactors were on cold shutdown. Bullshit. You can’t do a cold shutdown with exposed cores. It’s never been done, it never will be done and it sure as fuk wasn’t done at Fukushima.
I’m waiting for TEPCO to claim that Godzilla showed up and destroyed what was left of the reactors….and then show some old, grainy, black and white footage of a guy in a lizard suit stomping on some toy buildings. That would be just as believable.
They can not keep pouring water on it. The more they pour the more that goes into the ocean. And those rods will stay hot for a few thousand years as are. You need break them up or remove them.
“McNeill: This is like a vast experiment. There’s never really been an accident like this is such a densly populated place.”
Oh so now it’s all just an experiment and if we treat it as such, then it all won’t be as bad. WTF!!!??? Fire this asshole for stupidity and a lack of moral conscience and then arrest anyone who is covering it up for crimes against humanity.
This is an extreme, life-threatening issue to the entire world and in which all other world government problems and bickering should be placed on hold until this problem is fixed or contained.
Yet, McNeill here says we should just treat it as an experiment for fun? How sick can you be?
Ok this isn’t very important is it… WTF!! This is spreading everywhere, thru the jet stream, ocean currents, migratory fish and birds. How come experts from all countries aren’t working to try to stop this disaster, it has been getting worse for over 2 years now!! And what is with the news blackout on this situation?? We have a 104 such nuke plants operating in the U.S. at present, that’d be one reason why.. would’nt want to scare the sheeples with such an ongoing catastrophe!!
all the proof we need that these nutcases are not in touch with reality by any stretch.
