Jesse Jackson was in Portland this past Saturday to address a Michael Brown #Ferguson rally…

Rev. Jackson speaks at a Michael Brown rally in Portland, chants for “no guns, no guns”, then immediately ducks into the police HQ, where is protected by several people with guns. Rev. Jackson previously referred to gun owners as “anti government” and say they have a “confederate ideology”. Around back, he gives a press conference, in the public lobby of the police station, where the men with guns shove out independent media, a clear violation of the First Amendment right to freedom of the press. Commander Kevin Modica is the ranking officer present from the Portland Police Bureau. Later on, after Jackson’s speech, the crowd starts yelling at the police.

Protesters confront Portland commissioner Steve Novick after the police mishandled the Michael Brown march 2 days prior. “How bout a new protest fee, where everyone pays $20 a month to protest?” asks LAL of the commissioner. Mr. Novick, his usually cheery self, gets real snippy real quick, and his assistant, Dana Haynes even accuses me of wanting to hit the friendly commissioner. Mr. Novick tries to deflect everything by talking about what’s going on in the city of Ferguson, instead of what he has any say over here in Portland.
For reference, Mr. Novick and Mayor Charlie Hales have been pushing a new “street fee” or a city wide income tax to replenish the street funds that they’ve pissed away on light rail, pedestrian bridges, and bike lanes. http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/in…

“He was at 100 feet or more and shot 12 times” Jesse Jackson claims about the Michael Brown-Darren Wilson shooting. “We want to make Lady Liberty rejoice when immigrants are embraced. Make Lady Liberty smile when refugees are embraced. Make Lady Liberty smile when we make room for one another”…”We’re not going back” he says. He calls for a federal investigation, and calls on Obama and Holder to act. “We must protest, in Oregon, and all around the world” as he calls for “non violence” during the creepy human megaphone part, where the crowd repeats him. “Reconciliation, and redemption, and renewal, and reconciliation for the blacks who have been shot, our immigrants, refugees, this land is our land, we will win this tug-o-war”. “Now we’ve changed America, we are a better America, we are a new America, we are not going back.” One has to wonder if old age is getting the best of Mr. Jackson, as he sounds like he’s not quite right up top during this speech.
