John Lennon Was Assassinated 33 Years Ago Today

The Rebel

In mid November of 1980, I told all my close friends John Lennon was about to be assassinated. I said the powers that be were going to blame a lone deranged crazy fan, and that this person would never have a trial. I don’t know how I knew all of this.

I was driving my taxi in Manhattan on that beautifully warm evening of December 8, 1980. I was listening to Vin Scelsa on WNEW 102.7 FM, when just before 11 pm he announced that John Lennon had been shot, and then a few minutes later, crying,  he announced the death of John Lennon.

When this horrible news broke, I was with a passenger in my taxi. I drove her home and immediately went to the Dakota. I stayed there for the next nine hours. These nine hours changed my life. I swore on John Lennon’s blood that I would do everything I possibly could to enlighten humanity and make our world better for future generations.

…And everyday for the last thirty-three years, I have been doing this.

  1. John Lennon, in his early days, was indeed a dyed in the wool Socialist and the near religious worship people give to the words of his song, ‘Imagine’ is disturbing. A classic case of a good melody overriding the thinking portion of the brain. That said, a study of his work after that and the interviews he gave before his death show an intelligent man who was rethinking his pre-concieved notions of ‘how things work’. It looks to me that he was murdered so that an immensely popular pop icon, who was starting to wake up to the false left/right paradigm, so that he could not wake up 100 million young people, who hung on every word he said.

    1. How in the world could you arrive at the insane conclusion that Lennon was a “socialist”,thats an outright fkn lie! He was from working class and became a MAN OF PEACE ,after paying his dues for many years in sleazy bars in germany.if thats the definition of socialist then I am proud to be called one.Dont know about your mentality but if IMAGINING THE WORLD LIVING IN PEACE is wrong you can count me into that group also.
      Steve

      1. Dear Steve Apple:
Please take a deep breath – then, examine the lyrics of Imagine – your response is making my case for me: “A classic case of a good melody overriding the thinking portion of the brain.” The definition of ‘Socialist’ is found in the words of ‘Imagine’:
        “Imagine there’s no heaven…”
        “Imagine there’s no countries…”
        “Imagine no possessions…”
        AKA NWO!!
        Living in peace; yeah, right!
If you think being a godless, landless, possessionless serf if going to be peaceful, then, I question your mentality, in addition to your understanding of both human behaviour and history.

Here’s a link to one of the last interviews John Lennon gave:
        http://www.john-lennon.com/playboyinterviewwithjohnlennonandyokoono.htm

I’m a big belivier in the ’80/20 rule’ and I believe that we can find common ground.

I’ll sign off with some more of Mr. Lennon’s lyrics:

“But, if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao,
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone, anyhow”.

        1. Take a breath of reality yourself as the organized religious indoctrination is what John was refering to where sheep like you misinterpret EVERYTHING to suit your own AGENDA ,In fact the world would be a better place if misinformed morons such as yourself QUIT WASTING MY AIR ,so how about you just quit breathing and misleading the folks hereabouts with your AGENDA. And if you think you own anything on this rock you are even dumber and less informed than you lead us to believe, owning land HA just quit paying your fkn taxes(tribute) and see how fast you get thrown off “your property” ,I would venture to say if ignorant asses such as yourself had contributed even a billionth of the message of lennon the world would be a much better place,he kick tricky dicks ass what have you done, besides assume the moniker of a war guy.My guess is nothing whatsoever that has been of any benefit to mankind so shove off hawk boy no one wants to hear your tripe ,but try to pay attention to this explanation by John

        2. “But, if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao,
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone, anyhow”.
What does that prove? That he was against genicide and everything that Mao stood for.
          He was also against NWO…
          and violence:
You say you want a revolution
          Well you know
We’d all want to change the world
You tell me that it’s evolution
          Well you know
We’d all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out
What does the NWO want…to destroy everyone and everything and create their NWO out of the chaos.

          1. Well said alias,I bet a nickel hawky hates “CHRISTmas music as well as all men of peace
            Steve

    2. Lennon was assasinated because he wanted peace, just like MLK. He was too influential and the CIA and administration didn’t like that. For instance the rally to free John Sinclair in Michigan who was given 10 years for 2 joints. Lennon wrote the song John Sinclair and sung it at that rally. Sinclair was released shortly after.
Malcolm X stopped a near riot. He was assasinated shortly after.
They have to marginilize these people before they get us to accept these assasinations. Socialist, Communist, Dirty hippy, marxist, black extremist are just words they distort to instill fear and loathing, just like extreme Islamist.
They’ve gotten to reap the profits from their dirty wars and we are close to having the whole world enslaved because we’ve been distracted by the propaganda.
Imagine is a song about peace. Wars are waged over religion, countries borders and greed. People are starving and have been for centuries for the same reasons.
      Imagine no possessions
      I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
      A brotherhood of man
      Imagine all the people
      Sharing all the world…
John is just one of the people assasinated for wanting the injustice in the world to stop. Unbelieveably sad that some people still buy into the propaganda. Maybe you should revisit some of those terrible tragedies.

    1. I haven’t listened to those in years. Nice. 🙂
I hope John found the peace in death that they wouldn’t let him have in life. RIP

  2. Ask yourself why the song Helter Skelter was linked to the Manson murders? To destroy influence that Lennon had on the peace movement or anything else that he endorsed.
Does anyone that’s wide awake believe that Manson and his group of misfits acted alone? Maybe the CIA helped those murders to happen.

  3. Dear Aliasooze and Steve Apple,

I knew that we could find common ground!

Please reread my first posting on this subject; it appears that my critique of ‘Imagine’ caused you personal insult; for that, I apolgize.

Again, I find myself in agreement with a lot of what you say,(minues the personal invective towards me, of course!).

I’m with you on ‘organized religious indoctrination’ – it’s just that I fear an ‘organized religious indoctrination’ from those who worship the song ‘Imagine’ without pausing to reflect on how implementing such a world as suggested by that song would impact mankind. Come, let us reason together.

I’m also with you regarding taxes; your statement on that subject is right on target.

As far as an agenda goes, the only agenda I have is liberty/freedom/the right to be left alone. I’m pretty sure we share that agenda.

Much thanks for sharing Lennon’s ‘Watching the Wheels’ – what a great song, from a great album!

To summarize, I agree with you; Lennon was a major force for good and for waking people up. As I said in my first posting; that is why, in my opinion, he was murdered.

I do find fault with the message in the song ‘Imagine’; however, I did not write off all of his work, because of that. Which, if I’ve understood your messages, you believe that I had. I should have stated that fact more clearly in my first posting; thank you for pointing that out.

PS – I love Christmas music; I love all men and women of peace and I have attempted to respond to both of you in peace, understanding and pointing out areas where we agree.

    “And so Happy Christmas
    and Merry New Year,
    Let’s hope it’s a good one,
    without any fear”

    Best regards, Hawkeye

    1. I had to look invective up. Word of the day, thanks. I hope you don’t feel like I was attacking you. I agree we all want the same thing and we are all on the side of humanity. Best regards back atcha and I hope you and your’s have a wonderful, blessed christmas.
Sell peace like soap… John Lennon
You can have peace if you want it…John Lennon

    2. Hawky, apparently you have a problem with the english language so I took it upon myself to help you expand your seemingly tiny vocabulary.Instead of opening my personal copy of Websters 1880 I was lazy and binged it just for you. After rereading your tripe I say you owe Mr Lennon an apology “a dyed in the wool socialist, you fail to grasp the difference between loving society and suck at the gubberment teat. Next You state “religious worship of a song” where do you get this nonsense from Liking and appreciating somthing is a far far cry from worship of any kind.
As far as “insulting me personally” HA HA HA Not even closeYou see ol narrow knowledge hawky STICKS AND STONES- words dont move me one iota but mush minded nonsense NEEDS TO BE NIPPED IN THE BUD and thats where my response to your minutias lies.I am damn near tired of your kind who dont have a fkn clue of what they spout off about other than second hand false info. Please in the future take the second or so to find the correct meaning of words with more than 2 or 3 letters they hide that information in books. I dont have to defend Lennon, but I do like his music and philosphy
