PULASKI COUNTY, Mo. — A large amount of explosives was found in rural Pulaski County early Saturday morning.
According to Pulaski Sheriff Ron Long, a hunter in the Mark Twain National Forecast located the “substantial amount” of explosives on a jeep trail.
The hunter called the Sheriff’s Department and a deputy confirmed the items were explosives and secured the area.
The Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Units from Fort Leonard Wood and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were were dispatched. Once the scene was processed, the EOD Units detonated the explosives due to them being to volatile to move.
A small fire was started as a result of the detonation, but the Waynesville Rural Fire Department extinguished it.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department is looking for information on these explosives. They ask anyone with information to call the Sheriff’s Department at 573-774-6196 or call 911.

Propane tanks with “burner phones” used for detonators killed some here and some there in MO. All portable propane tanks are banned. Legislators are considering many more ridiculous laws to help keep you safe!

What’s so stupid is the portable propane tanks. If someone really wanted to “wreak havoc”, I’m certain in about any town in the USA multiple large capacity home heating propane tanks remain unsecured and unguarded and, if they chose to, would make one hell of a bang.

Yes it is but some are wondering if it is tied into the burner phones and propane reported recently. They occurred in the same area.
While tooling across Ohio, with my 18 wheeler, I saw two brown skin (Pakistan?) standing in the exit ramp for a service plaza. They were really studying a huge white tank, similar to a propane tank, about 50 t0 75 yards away. This was about 2002 or 2003. I called it in, like a good citizen, & the pig all but said to quit wasting his time. See something say something? Yeah, right.
Only idiots would use propane tanks whe anfol components are easy to obtain. Also the article states that the explosives could not safely be moved. That would make me think an unstable or unmixed ordinance. Unless they were afraid that the tanks were booby trapped there would be no danger of moving tanks.
