A gunman shot several people near a U.S. Navy base in Millington, Tenn., authorities say.
Fox13 reports that an employee of the base was relieved of duty today and is suspected of shooting at random people after going to his car. The suspect, an Army National Guardsman, is in custody, the Navy reported in a press release. Two National Guard soldiers were treated for non-life threatening injuries, and NBC News reports that one was shot in the leg and another was shot in the foot.
The Navy also reported that there “is not an active shooter situation.” The attack took place near an area called Naval Support Activity Midsouth:
#BREAKING: #USNavy can confirm suspect in custody. This is not an active shooter situation. More to follow.

At 2:44 p.m. ET, the lockdown was lifted, according to the Navy.
According to its Facebook page, Naval Support Activity Midsouth is a human resources center for the U.S. Navy. More than 7,500 military, civilian and contract personnel work there:
Headquartered onboard NSA Mid-South are Navy Personnel Command, Navy Recruiting Command, the Navy Manpower Analysis Center, as well as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Finance Center.

Maybe the guy got all cheesed off and lost it when he was informed that Fedgov lied to him when they said they would pay off his student loans and now he is in even more debt than before and is having his wages garnished.
My thoughts as well tammyc.
I had orders to that base but they where changed and I went to pensacola fl instead.
THAT didn’t take long.
Oddly enough, this one could even possibly be legitimate.
Just seen this….I was born on that base in 62. Use to be a newbie base until Clinton down sized it. Been for upper rank for some time now. My family lives in Millington and hubby made Chief there. The Commercial Appeal, is the newspaper there out of Memphis. If you Google the name there are three updates. Will find out more tomorrow….thanks for posting this story.
