Missouri Sheriffs to Lower Cost of Concealed Carry Permits, Citing Recent Terror Attacks

Eyes Open Report – by Star Fox

The Sheriffs of the Laclede, St. Clair and Vernon counties in Missouri announced this week that they will encourage more applicants for concealed carry permits by lowering the price of the application.

Wayne Merritt, the sheriff of Laclede County, told KY3 News that he wishes to see trained, responsible citizens that are armed considering the governments inability to keep track of home grown terrorists in light of the Paris and San Bernardino attacks.

“The government has already said they can’t keep track of all these home-grown terrorists, so we can’t be everywhere at the same time, so people have to be able to defend themselves,” Sheriff Merritt said. “Paris, as you know, has one of the strictest gun laws in the world — people can’t just go out and buy a gun like they can in the United States.”

“California is the same way, they have very strict gun laws,” Continued Merritt.

Starting this week, the price of concealed carry permits inside Merritt’s jurisdiction will be slashed from $100 to just $65.

St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler in Osceola and Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher announced the same thing on Tuesday, that CCW permits are going from $100 to $65 this week.

Jody Jamieson, an employee at the Friendly Firearms gun shop in Lebanon, Missouri, told KY3 that he has seen a recent spike in hand gun purchases and inquire about concealed carry permits.

“I know word has gotten out pretty quick,” Jamieson said.

CCW permit applications, unsurprisingly, have also spiked in San Bernardino after mass shooters Syed Rizwan Farook and wife killed 14 people inside the Inland Regional Center.

A CCW official in San Bernardino told ABC 7 that an estimated 1,100 people have filled out extensive forms and are now awaiting the next step in the screening process since the mass shooting last week.

The recent attacks in Paris and California have undoubtedly woken many people up to the importance of being able to defend themselves as the police are minuets away when seconds count and no government regulations will stop a blood thirsty lunatic who wishes to do harm.
