ND man charged with assault for kicking child, putting hand in hot gravy

FORBES, N.D.—A Forbes man was arrested Tuesday, Jan. 30, for allegedly assaulting a 9-year-old child in Dickey County in December.

Robert Sturgis Miner, 49, was arrested by the Dickey County Sheriff’s Office north of Forbes Tuesday, with support from the James River Special Operations Team, the Red River Valley SWAT, North Dakota Highway Patrol and North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.

Miner was charged on Jan. 17 in Southeast District Court in Dickey County with two counts of aggravated assault, a Class B felony. He is in custody in the Stutsman County Correctional Center with no bond set.

According to the criminal complaint, Miner is accused of causing serious bodily injury to the child on Dec. 22 by kicking her in the legs, causing extreme pain and bruising, and thrusting her hand in hot gravy on Jan. 9, causing extreme pain and blistering.
