America’s 1st Freedom – by Clay Turner
Gun-banning billionaire Michael Bloomberg has launched a “gun news” site called The Trace. By way of introduction, The Trace’s editors admitted, “We do bring a point of view to the issue of gun violence: We believe there is too much of it.”
As admissions go, this one doesn’t admit much guilt. But The Trace editors show their true colors before they can exit the paragraph, backhanding the ban on funding for CDC’s positioning of gun violence as a “public health issue”; complaining that anti-gun politicians and journalists (like those at The Trace) can’t get at gun trace data in order to manipulate it; misrepresenting the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act; and expressing apoplexy that doctors are prevented from prying into the lives of gun owners.
The Trace is poised to continue a common Bloomberg tactic: borrowing the trust we place in other institutions in order to further his gun-ban goals. Before we go any further, let’s review a little Bloomy history:
By choosing the name Everytown for Gun Safety, Bloomberg hoped to position the group as a gun safety organization that could counter the influence of the NRA by riding the crest of an overwhelming grassroots mandate. In truth, it is more astroturf than grassroots, and more gun ban than gun safety. Everytown’s press releases have become so suspect that few news organizations cite them anymore; their inflated totals of school shootings earned four Pinocchios from the Washington Post—the worst possible rating. This past weekend, they claimed the FBI said the Charleston killer did not pass a background check, and that he benefited from a non-existent “NRA-backed loophole in the law” to get his gun, both outrageous falsehoods. Strangely, they also demanded that Cabela’s join Wal-Mart in conducting background checks on gun sales—something Cabela’s already does on every gun sale. With such little knowledge of reality, perhaps Everytown has outsourced its gun-control messaging to a help desk in India?
Shannon Watts of Bloomberg’s Moms Demand Action poses as a stay-at-home mom and claims to represent millions of mothers united against guns, but is actually a career PR professional who worked on gun-ban issues as part of anti-gun Missouri Gov. Mel Carnahan’s staff. Watts has used this subterfuge to say anything for media attention, claiming that defensive gun use by lawful citizens “never happens,” and that NRA bans the carrying of guns at both its headquarters and the NRA Annual Meetings. MDA includes an expected attendance when they announce their rallies, but reports of actual attendance afterwards are scarce to come by: That’s what you do when your supporters are outnumbered by homeless people in the park where you stage your rally.
Mayors Against Illegal Guns attracted mayors by promising to fight illegal guns; it also bought them off with grants for city staff. When it became clear Bloomberg’s real goal was to eradicate all guns, several mayors headed to the exits (MAIG has also been caught claiming mayors who never joined as members). MAIG has had mixed results in elections, too, suffering recall defeats of anti-gun politicians in Colorado. Bloomberg dismissed the recalls as being in a “part of Colorado where I don’t think there’s roads [sic].”
The Center for Gun Policy and Research, part of the Bloomberg School of Public Health, borrows the credibility of Johns Hopkins to disseminate anti-gun propaganda disguised as scientific study. However, repeating headlines from anti-gun media on its website makes the organization’s credibility appear more baseless than bias-less. “Smart Guns Save Lives. So Where Are They?” avoids the fact that no smart gun has ever saved a life. “Gun sales spiked after the Ferguson unrest. Will gun crime rise as well?” implies that lawful citizens legally purchasing guns will eventually decide to knock over the corner liquor store.
Now comes Bloomberg’s newest venture, The Trace, using words like “accuracy,” “fairness,” “reporting,” “investigations,” “analysis” and “commentary.” The group asks us to trust it as a source of unbiased reporting on the gun issue because, really, “our focus is on a related problem: the shortage of information on the subject at large.” Really? Has anyone reading this noticed a dearth of opinion on the subject of gun control? Since December 2012, it has been impossible to turn the channel or the page of a newspaper in America without being harangued over our Second Amendment rights.
Perhaps what The Trace editors really mean is Bloomberg feels he hasn’t talked enough about gun control yet, because not everyone agrees with him yet. What hasn’t occurred to him is that, yes, we have heard him, but his billions can’t buy our beliefs … yet.
Stay tuned to Americas1stFreedom.org in the coming weeks as we examine Bloomberg’s faux-news service for traces of Bloomberg’s quest for a gun-free zone that spans the nation.
“Bloomberg hoped to position the group as a gun safety organization that could counter the influence of the NRA…”
You mean attempt to bolster the (non-existent, here) credibility of the (controlled opposition) NRA?
How quaint.
Everytown for Gun Safety, Moms Demand Action, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, and Center for Gun Policy and Research, yet the Zionist bastard STILL can’t get our guns. Pee-Wee, like the rest of the Zionist trash, just doesn’t know when to quit. That’s why he’s knick-named “Bloominidiot”.
May the Zionist turd burn in Hell with the rest of his Zio-Commie Bolshevik friends.
It’ll be a good contest between the ukraine rebels and the american rebels to see which group bags their idiot oligarchs first.
