North Carolina mall on lockdown after reported shooting

Fox News

DEVELOPING: Police were searching a Raleigh, N.C. mall for a gunman Saturday after witnesses reported shots fired in the building.

WRAL reported that police and emergency personnel were called to the Crabtree Valley Mall at around 2:45 p.m. local time. Authorities put the mall on lockdown and closed all access roads.

Police told WRAL no suspects were in custody. Authorities told Fox News they had not received word of any gunshot injuries, but noted that several people were trampled in the evacuation.

Witness Mark Rush told WTVD that he was walking out of a cell phone accessory store when he heard “about five or six” shots. He said the shooter was “10 or 15 feet” away and was carrying a handgun.

Rush said he and his family managed to get out safely.

Video posted on social media showed shoppers running out of a store exit.

John Riggleman and Kristin Warring told The Associated Press that they were heading to a video game store when they heard shots coming from the mall’s food court. They ran into the store with dozens of others before the doors of the mall were locked.

Warring said she heard an additional series of shots.

Police told them they could leave the store at about 3 p.m.

An employee of the mall’s Abercrombie & Fitch store told Fox News that he and his co-workers were told to lock their doors and stay inside.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

  1. “Authorities told Fox News they had not received word of any gunshot injuries, but noted that several people were trampled in the evacuation.”

Stampeding sheeple can be dangerous, even more so than ‘lone nut gunmen’.

Especially considering the obesity problem in this country.

    1. “…..emergency personnel were called to the Crabtree Valley Mall at around 2:45 p.m. local time. Authorities put the mall on lockdown and closed all access roads…”

“….Police told them they could leave the store at about 3 p.m.”

That’s kind of a contradiction….. but it’s nothing compared to tomorrow’s news when the whole story changes. It might even be in a different state by Monday.

On Wednesday we find out that it never even happened.

  2. “…they had not received word of any gunshot injuries, but noted that several people were trampled in the evacuation…”

I wonder if you can get idiots to trample each other to death with a pack of firecrackers?

  3. Wait just a frelling minute: Crab Tree Mall is a “Gun Free Zone’, no one can have a gun unless they are law enforcement or criminals. If I was there the shooter would have been in a body bag, frell the rules, I want to live.
