“Northland Adventures” series finale set for December 29th

Eau Claire (WQOW) – The award-winning weekly syndicated “Northland Adventures” television program will air its series finale episode at the end of 2013, coinciding with the retirement of its long-time host and creator, Dave Carlson.

The show airs weekly at 10:35 p.m. Sunday nights and 6:30 p.m. Saturday nights on WQOW News 18 in Eau Claire. The program also airs in syndication on 23 television stations throughout the upper Midwest.

Earlier this year, Dave Carlson, 66, of Eau Claire, WI,  “semi-retired” while continuing to work part-time as a contributor to “Northland Adventures.” At that time, the program started to include stories created by several other correspondents from various markets in Wisconsin.

In June 2013, Carlson was inducted into the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame.  Since 1985, the show had received more than 40 Excellence in Craft awards from the Outdoor Writers Assn. of America. The program also has been cited by conservation groups and natural resources agencies.

“All of what Northland Adventures became is due to the dedicated high-quality work of photographers and production staff,” Carlson said. “But mostly, it was possible because of the involvement of hundreds of guests who, over the years, shared their experiences, skills and passions for the outdoors through our show seen by tens of thousands of viewers. My job was simple, just tell the folks’ stories.”

Northland Adventures is seen on 23 local network-affiliated stations covering 12 states. Nearly 700 half-hour episodes have been produced and hosted by Dave Carlson since July 2000. Carlson also produced about 1,040 half-hour, weekly episodes of “Northland Journal” during an almost 20 year-stint with another television company covering parts of Wisconsin.

The last full episode of Northland Adventures will air on WQOW/WXOW on December 29, 2013.

    1. F that duck dynasty, they are asshloles. Bottom line… This guy was honest and was focust on a local level that spread the word. Those duck guys were on a national level plan and made deals with A and E etc. and can eat my shorts – this guy didn`t – so F them duck guys. This guy called it quits and retired – how about them duck dynasty boy punks – they are multi millionars with nothin` to worry about and playin` every one. At least this guy wasn`t playin` every one. Duck dynasty is a bunch of pukes in my book

    2. Smilardog,
this guy Dave Carlson is from Wi., so probably known long and well around the area, like Mort Neff was in Mi. when I was a little kid (I couldn’t wait for his show to come on!) I don’t know if anybody outside Mi. would know who Mort Neff was, but his show wasn’t like “Duck Dynasty.”
