Officials Say Death of Cyclist Hit by Trooper Was Accident

DOVER, Del. (AP) – Authorities say the death of a bicyclist who was hit by a vehicle driven by a Delaware state trooper during a chase was an accident.

A spokeswoman for the attorney general’s office said Wednesday that the agency’s Office of Civil Rights and Public Trust determined the June incident it to be “an unfortunate accident” and not an intentional use of deadly force.

Thirty-two-year-old Richard M. Talbot of Milton died after a trooper driving a marked Chevrolet Tahoe saw a man on a bike who matched a burglary suspect’s description and gave chase.

Police say the trooper turned on his emergency lights and sirens to get the bicyclist to stop and gave the bicyclist verbal commands before his vehicle hit the bike.

  1. This is a tragedy. ..

    Make no mistake about it.

State Troopers should not eat pills,, drink on the job and run over
    cyclists.

I think the ten commandments sayeth…

Though shalt not get fked up and run over cyclists.

I think thatz right after that murder sht…commandment.
